Lisa watched as she walked toward him and gently cast his document aside.

Before Jennie could speak, he spoke up. "Did you sleep and just wake up?"

Hours ago, Lisa had sent her a message but she hadn't replied.

If Jennie had been awake all this time, that meant she had deliberately chosen not to reply to him.

"Oh... I just woke up." she rubbed her eyes as she spoke.

Lisa's expression softened.

Sensing that there was something wrong with her, Lisa asked, "What happened?"

Under normal circumstances, Jennie wouldn't have looked for him in the middle of the night.

"Mr. Manoban... Is there a baby in Cloud Manor?" Jennie glanced at Lisa curiously.

"Baby?"

Lisa looked rather puzzled by her question.

Why would there be a baby in Cloud Manor?

"No." He gazed intently at Jennie.

"Come out for a while." Jennie stepped forward to grab Lisa's hand.

He didn't resist. He merely left with her.

It was dark everywhere.

"Did you hear that?" Jennie asked softly as she glanced at Lisa after leaving the study.

"What?" Lisa was confused.

"A baby is crying," quipped Jennie.

Lisa shook his head slightly. "No, I didn't hear it."

Even Jennie couldn't hear anything.

"That's weird..." she muttered to herself.

The baby's cries had vanished without a trace.

"Do you need me to accompany you?" Lisa glanced at her.

"Why would you need to accompany me?" asked Jennie instinctively.

"When you sleep," He replied with a stoic expression.

Before she could utter a word, that eerie wail rang once more and slowly became louder.

"Listen!" She urged him anxiously.

Lisa frowned, as he had indeed heard something.

He didn't respond. Instead, he strode toward the sound, which came from the back door of Jennie's room.

She hastily trailed after Lisa.

Seconds later, Lisa stretched his hands lightly and parted the leaves of the plants.

'Meow...'

A tiny white kitten was there, blinking in the darkness.

The baby's cries belonged to the tiny kitten.

"Is this the baby you were referring to?" Lisa turned to Jennie.

"Err..."

She looked rather awkward.

Her legendary reputation was on the line...

"So cute! It's so pitiful." Jennie's attention was drawn to the kitten.

The kitten didn't move as it stared at Jenniw.

Lisa picked up the kitten gently.

"Give it to me!" Jennie extended both hands.

"Okay."

Lisa passed the kitten to her.

"I realized that I have an affinity for animals, especially kittens! We just adopted one and here comes another! It's so pretty... But wait... I need to clean it first before I flaunt it on Weibo!" Jennie quipped excitedly to herself.
