AGONY (Levi x OC)

The Abnormal was closing in. Too many Titans surrounded them. His eyes fixed forward, he plunged through the monsters. Steam obscured his line of sight, but he kept slicing without blinking an eye; for he knew that his partner had his back.

"Levi behind you!"

Too much noise. Screams, shouts, signals and steam gushing out from the dead Titans. My body moves involuntarily. He needs to live. He's humanity's only hope.

I kill the Regular in front of me and rush to the Abnormal. My heart was racing, each beat like a piercing needle of fear. The Abnormal sensed me. Dammit. It raises its hand, but I swerve, barely missing.

I have to keep it occupied. I fly around the Abnormal, a safe distance away. What should I do, what should I do, what should I do?! Shit. I was down to my last set of blades. Three more cuts, if I don't end this before that, then it's over for me. 

I dive in.

My blades slice through the Abnormal's hand and pierce through its ugly eyes. Adrenaline rushes through my blood. I step on its head, twist my body and slash its nape to shreds. Its blood-curdling scream is like music to my ears. As it collapses, I fly to a high tree, unable to catch my breath.

Those low-lives can't reach me here. My blades had given in and are now shattered bits and I was running low on gas anyway. So I drop on the branch, lean against the tree, waiting for help. Even after sitting down, it was difficult to breathe. Confused, I look down to see quite a shocking sight. I was bleeding like mad, my uniform already drenched in red. I realised right then.

 I wasn't going to make it back.  

I had given much thought about dying before I joined the scouts. It wasn't like I was not afraid of dying, I was more of accepting the fact that I was at potential risk at this job and I might as well die after killing some Titans.

Now looking back, maybe I was a bit reckless back then. Ha. Looks like I won't be back for dinner today, Mum must be worried. A little chuckle escapes me when I think about my little brother back home. Him and his yellow dandelions. It would be nice to see their faces again.

The world seemed to slow down. The screams subdued as if I was surrounded by water which muffled everything around me. The sky was clear too. Bright blue patched with white. Maybe I could fall asleep here, in this peaceful place...

"Vi! Where the hell is she?!" He couldn't find her anywhere. The Titans were decimated and the remaining troupes had gathered. No casualties. Then where is she?!

Suddenly, someone screamed. He pushed through the crowd to find the source. It was a female cadet. Her hand was shaking as she pointed to something. His head snapped in the direction where she was pointing. His eyes scanned the foliage and then he saw her...

He was slicing through the air already.

I could feel someone tug me toward them, shouting for help. I wanted to tell them off for disturbing me. My eyes were heavy, but I manage to open them. 

"Levi?"

He looks at me, his face a contortion of emotions. "You idiot. What were you thinking?!" 

That did it. This idiot decided to break formation and now he's blaming me?!

"You broke formation. Abnormal was behind you," I wheeze out. 

My strength was waning. I-I was going to die soon. The tears I held back, break free. I smile up at him. Memories of our time together flooded my mind. Both of us struggled to survive in the Underground; expanding our family with Isabel and Farlan; joining the Scouts; losing our oldest friends on the same day; falling under Erwin's jurisdiction; spending nights with each other to keep nightmares away; accepting our fate and moving on. Levi was always there. And I was with him. 

More tears slip past and his grip on me tightens. He was crying, sobs racked his body. "Hey-y"

I hold his face, smearing blood all over. There's so much I want to say, but I haven't got the time. Someone lands beside me and starts treating my wounds -Hange I suppose- but I know it's too late. I wanted to die without regrets, but now it seems like a child's unreasonable wish.

"Hey Levi, look at me." He looks at me, his teeth gritting loudly. "Do me a favour okay?"

Levi nods. 

"Be patient with Hange...Tell Erwin that it's not his fault...eat properly...sleep...and take care of lil' bro will ya..." I say slowly and close my eyes.

Levi's POV

"Vi? Hey. Wake up. Wake up, Vi. Please. don't leave me. Please." I beg her to stay. No. I can't lose her too. 

Tears flow down my face and drip on her cheeks. Hange's still closing her wounds wordlessly. 

"Hey Shorty..." 

"Vi tell me...what is it"

She starts chuckling. "You know what? I din wanna tell this. But...I love you Levi. Sorry, this isn't how I imagined this."

"You idiot. You should've told sooner. I love you too." I say, my voice breaking with each word. Her grip tightens on my hand. 

"Maybe I should have," she whispers and kisses my hand. 

"Don't leave me. Please. Stay here. With me. PLEASE."

"I can't. But we'll meet again. Just don't come running after me okay?"

I kiss her forehead and hold her close. "I love you Vi. Always"

Just a little more. Give me some more time. 

She smiles and closes her eyes forever.

I scream. I hold her still body tight and sit there. My whole body racked with pain and my heart was in agony. I rock her body and kiss her cold face. "Don't worry. I'll protect Adri with my life." I whisper to her beautiful face before everything goes black.
