A/N

It's been a big question to me why Kenny left behind Levi. Later I came to know that he did what he did because he wasn't ready to play the role of a father. Then why would he try to kill Levi? In the end, I realised it was guilt It was the sole reason why I wanted to redeem his character. That gave me the idea of Kenny raising a girl and giving her the love she needed, as a way to redeem himself.

Anyway, enjoy the read guyss

"That's enough drinking old man."

"Oh cmon Shira. Just one moreee." I sighed.

Kenny Ackerman, famously known as 'Kenny the Ripper' is talking to a teapot. I can't believe he's this drunk before a crucial mission. That fatso Rod Reiss wants us to kidnap the titan kid. Honestly, I don't see why fuss so much. If Rod wanted him killed, why does he want us to kidnap that little aberration from the clutches of Captain Levi? Why all the fuss about killing the brat, when he is already in the clutches of Humanity's strongest soldier? I'll never know... Kenny knows about this, but he wouldn't open his mouth. He never takes up a job without knowing all the facts and arrogantly charges the benefactor. But this time, he agreed without a word. This man will always be a mystery.

"We've got a job tomorrow, do you even remember it?"

"Of course Shira!" He's still talking to the teapot.

It's annoying when he's drunk, but I bear with it. If it weren't for him I'd still be rotting in the Underground. He found me as a little girl, fighting for scraps, in the darkest parts of that shitty place. He took me in and raised me as his own daughter. He gave me good food, and new clothes taught me how to fight and above all, he gave me a place I could call home.

People fear him, and criminals talk about him like he's a legend who controls the MPs, but to me, he's just old man Kenny. I once asked him why he took me in. "Guilt," he replied. Back then I didn't know what he meant, I still don't...

Shaking of those thoughts, rub my temples.

"Kenny, let's go," I say, turning him to face me.

"Oh Shira! I was talking to you just now!" he slurred. I raised an eyebrow at the slightly shook up bartender.

"2 bottles ma'am," he squeaked.

That's lesser than his usual.

Silently  I take out the money and put it on the counter. I threw one of Kenny's arms around my shoulders and pull him up to his feet. Without a word, we exit the bar. For an old man, he was quite strong and heavy. I drag him along to our apartment. "What a stupid old man," I huff, as struggle to climb the stairs with Kenny in tow.

Kenny started to whistle, "My little Shira has become cold."

"Shut your trap, Kenny. I'm not little anymore" I mutter as I take him home.

Tomorrow's mission has to be a success, so we can return home just the way we did for over 20 years...
