...We headed towards the Rocky Mountains..

Gyro was looking at the rankings and he didn't look very happy. "Great, just wonderful... I won't get a lead over Dio or Sandman even if I finish in first place this round! And you guys! You said you are gonna finish after me!!" He was pissed off. "Eeh- I never said I was going to finish after you- Hey! Isn't that Diego sitting down there?" I saw him in the distance. "Not him again.." Johnny murmured. "That's weird.. He is off course!" I tried making out what he was doing. Then Gyro got his binoculars. "Looks like he fell. He is bleeding from his cheek..." He observed him through the lenses. "He actually fell? That's hard to believe. It sounds like he will be a little behind, might even drop out." Johnny doubted it. I got worried for him. "I think I'll go check on him-" "Don't, it's better if we just continue." Johnny tried stopping me. What was his problem. "Hey- it won't hurt if I go ask if he is okay." I tried reassuring him. "...Okay but Y/N, he may be tricking you like that. He is the type of person that will do anything for money and to win. Also, there are many shady rumors. For example, he married an 84 year old widow to inherit her fortune, then half an year later, she died.. But I can't stop you, so do whatever you want." Johnny told us the tea. I didn't know what to say. "We will just continue, so be quick to catch up with us." Gyro added and they went on ahead.
I got closer to Diego and I could see that he was indeed badly injured. He was cuddled up on the ground. "Hey- Dio, are you alright? You are bleeding and you look really hurt." I got off my horse. I saw his hat on the ground so I picked it up. He looked at me, but still didn't say anything. I walked closer to him "Hello? Want me to treat your-" "Leave me alone, and go to your friends! I'm fine, so get lost." He snapped. "Huh- But I was just trying to help-" I got a closer look at him. His wounds were really deep. "Let me help you, your wounds will get infected, you'll die." I insisted. He just stayed quiet. I went back to my horse to get some medicine from my bag. I couldn't leave him like that, it was really the least I could do.

I walked back to him, and he was now lying down. I kneeled and attempted cleaning his face. He was resisting at first, but then gave in. "How did you even got yourself that many cuts?" I asked him. He opened his eyes and looked at me. "Aren't you invading my personal space? I don't like it when someone touches me." He ignored my question. "Why can't you just say thank you or something? Be grateful, I'm treating your injuries right now. You could have even dropped out." I tilted his head to the right, so I could clean the deepest cut with some alcohol. "Fuck, this hurts, be more gentle." he complained.

I finally applied some from my little bandages on his face. "Okay done, does it hurt anywhere else?" I asked him. "No, just go away, I don't need your help as I said." He brushed me off. "Alright, bye then. Hope you feel better soon." I got on my horse and left him. I started going back to Gyro and Johnny.
After about five minutes, I finally caught up with them. They weren't going very fast. "You are finally back! We got worried." Johnny let out a sigh. "So? Did everything go well?" Gyro asked me. "Yup, he was just being a little sassy, but everything was alright. I helped him treat his wounds." I told them. "You are really selfless Y/N, even if you two are fighting over the first place..." Johnny talked under his breath.
He looked at his map. "So, we will pass the Rocky Mountains in two days, and Mt. Footloose is just across that mountain." Johnny pointed. "It's right there. You can see it slightly. It's about 15km away... Could we make it to there today?" He asked us. "I don't think so.. the sun is about to set." I didn't think that we would be able to do it. "Y/N is right, today is too late. We will have to let the horses rest." Gyro agreed with me. "Wait guys- my horse is freaking out?!" Gyro seemed worried. "What is it- Hey that's him! It's Dio!" Johnny shouted. I turned back to see. It really was Diego. He appeared to be in a better condition. "Don't let him pass you! And don't let your guard down!" Gyro warned us. "Hey now guys.. don't take it that way. I'm healed now, see? If it wasn't for Y/N, I would still be lying there! And I wanted to thank her for her kindness... There is a small village up ahead. Let's stay there, camping out is a bad idea since there are lots of beast in this area. Y/N? Want to share a room with me? I won't mind doing it again!" He joked. Diego was being really different. I didn't like the way he said that... "Leave her alone! She will be save enough with us! She doesn't want to be with a creep like you!" Johnny snapped. "Okay, okay! You all really can't take a joke! Hear me out. So, the other day after sundown I got surrounded by beasts. Some rattlesnakes and cougars. They were on the two sides of the road, blocking my way out. I was thinking of how to escape, but then for some reason I was able to pass through one of the sides of the road. Which side do you think it was?" He asked us. "...." We stayed silent, not knowing how to react to that. "The answer is the rattlesnakes. Because they were assssleep... And ssssnoring on the side of the road!" I was really confused. Gyro and Johnny looked him dead in the eyes. "Come onn!! That was just another joke! What do you think, Y/N?" he looked at me. "It's.. nice.. I guess-." I was concerned about him. "Damn, I feel so good! Everything is so refreshing! Splendid! Maybe it's because you helped me back then! My body feels so light! Y/N, why don't you travel with me again? It was really fun! Too bad you'd pick them over me..." He seemed to be really energetic. I was wondering what the hell was wrong with him. He didn't act like that before... "Get away from us! She won't be traveling with you!" Johnny yelled at him. "Johnny Joestarr.. Why would you interfere between me and her? You always did actually. Are you perhaps jealous that she happens to be involved with me, Dio? Well, maybe you can't help it! She is a really pretty girl after all..." And then suddenly, cracks appeared on his arm and neck. We all were speechless. "The hell?-" There was something crawling on his back. "Hey, Y/N! Gyro and Johnny may be experts on the horse, but can they do this?" He flipped to headstand. "Hey!" Diego started doing literal gymnastics on his horse. Were all Bri'ish people back in 1890 this bizarre? "What's up with him? Has he been always that wacky?" Gyro asked. "No, he is behaving really strange. He wasn't like that before." I told them. "Something is really strange! He was badly injured back then, but now he is in perfect shape! Are we going to be with him tonight-?" Johnny hesitated. "There are wolves out there. It would be far too risky for the horses. We need to stay at the village." Gyro stated. "Mm.. Yep! The wolves are still roaming around. That's the safest." Diego loudly shouted from what it looked like 15 meters away. "He can hear us! Great heavens!" We all were creeped out.

We arrived at the small village and all the people were greeting us. I waved back at them. I was really happy because they all welcomed us nicely . They gave us a place to stay at too.
"Looks like everyone knows about the race!" Johnny was excited. "Yeah, Even up here in the mountains." Gyro was taking off his luggage. I wasn't surprised. Even 150 years after the race, it was still really popular, so that was to be expected. "Gyro! Y/N! Where did Dio go! He is gone!" Johnny shouted. "He may be talking to the villagers. Relax, Johnny." I tried calming him down. "But for real! I'm not sleeping in the same place as him! He may put poison in our horse's food or something! I can't trust him anymore at all!" He cried out. "I know, but we will just watch out like we do when we camp out. There is a furnace in the room next door and it's time for dinner... I'll go find wood, you two wait for me here." Gyro took a lantern and headed out to who knows where.

"Y/N, let's make some coffee. There are some cups over there." Johnny suggested. "Alright." I went to get him off the horse and carry him. I didn't want him to crawl all over the place all the time, so I was helping him out. I sat him next to me and I was going to start making some coffee. "Let me do it... You can chill, it was a really long day." He began brewing it while I sat on the cold stone next to him. I watched as he was carefully pouring it. "Y/N.. Sometimes you are really unpredictable. You've always been mysterious and no one really knows anything about you.." He said out of no where. "Huh? What's your point?" I was confused. He turned to me. "I mean.. I can never know what your intentions are or what you mean. I don't mean that in a bad way, you are a good person, but something about you is really weird...It's like you come from a completely different universe." He sighed. "You always help me out and expect nothing in return. Why is that?" He was now looking away, like as he was thinking about something. I just didn't know what to say, or maybe I didn't know what he wanted me to say. Then he suddenly leaned closer to me. "I wonder, have you ever fallen in love with someone? Because I can't explain and don't know what I'm feeling about you right now. I've noticed that you sometimes say some really cute things to me." He boldly said. I had a moment of panic. "Johnny I-" "Oh, am I interrupting something?" I looked at the door and saw Diego standing there. "My bad, I just smelt some nice coffee aroma and came here to check. A very bad timing indeed." Dio looked away, Johnny immediately got off me. That would have looked really suspicious... It was embarrassing. "No, didn't interrupt anything, we were just talking." I tried making it less awkward. "Dio.. What are you doing here?" Johnny hissed at him. "As I said, I just smelt some nice coffee aroma. Why so pressed about it? After all I was right that you don't want me near Y/N at all. Anyways, you are making coffee aren't you?" Dio asked. "..." We stayed in silence...
