Chapter 30

Rhys's POV

"Rhys? Ear-th to Rhys? Rhys!!"
I startled by Asch screaming into my ears.

It had been suns since Oscar left. I have not slept well than usual. My mind was nothing but her. Unable to see her was only to let my concern grow and grow. Even Leif was concern as I have not slept for suns. Accidents had happened and it possibly was the side effect of missing a person miserably and lack of sleep. Severe potion explosions happened. With scars appeared on my arm , to my glaoses almost broke in the progress. I really gotta get through this progress , as I assume it only get better if she returned and only if she does return safe....

I did asked Asch on when was Oscar returning , as I thought , he claimed he was unsure about it and even acted like he doesn't care about her. Even I knew their plan all along , yet I gotta act dumb , which was very much a falsehood. I could've just reveal that I was sneaking in the living room invisible during their conversation , and heard every single word they have spoke about.

But....

I just feel like....

I don't deserve to know the truth...

I felt myself being selfish and doesn't care about her....

"Are you alright? You have been off guard lately."
"Yes , I'm alright , your majesty."
He glanced at me , before sighing and gave me a pat on the shoulder.

"You should look yourself through the mirror. You look absolutely exhausted by that face on your skin. Take a break sometimes."
"Advise taken , thank you Prince Asch."
I bowed with respect as Asch scoffed and walks out to catch his Socky the Sock Puppet show. I sighed as I knew my personal issues all along. With my hand scratching by my skull , I let out a tiring breath as I walked out from the library and out to the base to get some fresh air.

"Oh hello Rhys."
"G-Greetings Princess Ava."
I stuttered a bit as I let out a small cough. Ava panicked as she asked if I'm doing alright.

"I-I'm fine , Ava. Just overworked , that's all."
"Ever since Oscar left for a week ago , you never rested..."
Ava knew. I know cause she claimed that human Lorelai told her about it. She wasn't the last to know. The fact Oscar went volunteering at the danger zone was viral all over the 'Internet'.

"I will do just fine , Ava. No need to be worried of. Just head over to rest."
Ava only hummed in response before walking back into her chamber. Yet before she entered the chamber , she called out my name , but remained silent and soon called it as a day-off for her. 

Wonder what was she trying to tell me?....
And why would she hesitate to ask me?....

"Don't be amused , it's just the news! ," I jumped by the sudden noise from the TV as I turned my full attention to the TV , "another earthquake with magnitude at least 7.5 happened at Alaska on the late night of 12th August! Deaths involving volunteers happened , and so is the injuries. Now , Sir Bourgeois shall provided additional information."

Volunteers?
Death?
Wait-
Oscar was a volunteer! I walked nervously to the TV to hear whatever the human mentioned behind the screen , hoping no bad news would be heard.

"Thanks once again to Nadja. During the late night of 12th August , volunteers had been busy carrying rocks and stones to save the innocent victims. For unfortunate news , the earthquake happened before the volunteers could evacuate themselves. Therefore , crushed under rocks. After counting the numbers , we have lost 10 volunteers from the number of 30 volunteers. Bodies of 9 victims were found lifeless or injured. Among the 10 , Oscar Langford's body was not found where the saving team assumed that a huger rock has crushed her-"
Before the man can continued , Asch turned off the TV , with his hands gripped against his pants.
