A/N: 1.2k!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG guys! *dies of happiness*
So this isn't connected to the other human AUs. Keefe and Tam don't know each other yet.
Keefe walked down the sidewalk, just as he did every day. He was on his way to school at Foxfire, the nearby school.
He reached for his headphones, only to find he'd forgotten them again. Sighing, he put his phone back in his pockets. The twenty-minute walk to school was the only time Keefe could just listen to music and forget everything.
Sure, he was a chill guy, but even the nicest people have shit to hide. Lets just say Keefe's home life wasn't great.
He stood back up, shoved his phone in his pocket and resumed walking. And that when he heard it.
Someone was playing the drums, really, really well. Keefe was in awe at the sound. He'd tried to learn, but he'd been awful. Keefe looked around for the noise when he saw the boy in the window.
Across the street, a second-floor window was open, that's where the music was coming from. A boy sat in front of it. From this distance, all Keefe could see was the boy's black hair, with bleached bangs.
Wow, that guy's amazing. Keefe thought, and he continued walking, listening to the music from the window until he had to strain his ears.
Keefe smiled to himself, and continued on the way to school with a spring in his step.
Day 2
Keefe walked down the sidewalk. Today he'd remembered his headphones. When he passed by the house from yesterday, he heard the music again. Keefe paused his music and slipped his headphones onto his neck so he could listen again.
It sounded just as amazing as it had yesterday. Keefe glanced up at the second floor window. The boy was there again. Today he was wearing a dark blue t shirt.
Weird I've never seen him before, he looks about my age, Keefe thought, squinting at the window. He shrugged and kept walking, but didn't put his headphones back on.
1 week later
Keefe hadn't worn his headphones since that second day. The music from the drums was always awesome. Keefe had begun to look forward to walking down that part of the street.
He walked past the house, slowing down so he could hear the music for as long as possible. Keefe grinned and walked slowly to school.
1 month later
Keefe hadn't worn his headphones to school in ages. The walk had become his favourite part of the day.
It's weird I've never seen him before though, Keefe thought. Maybe he's home-schooled?
Before he realised what he was doing, Keefe had crossed the road, continuing walking on the same side as the boy in the window.
He glanced upwards. From closer up, he noticed that the boy's bangs were bleached, but dyed silver.
For a good musician, his hair's kinda dumb, Keefe thought, as the wind rustled his own.
Keefe didn't walk on the opposite side of the road again, choosing to walk next to the house with the drums.
Later that day, Keefe's friend Fitz noticed something was up.
"What song is that?" He asked.
"What do you mean?" Keefe asked.
"You were tapping out a rhythm to a song. It sounded cool." Fitz informed Keefe, before trying to replicate the sound.
It took Keefe a second to realise he's been tapping out the the rhythm to the song he'd heard that morning.
