Chapter 20: Announcement (Ana's POV)

An hour later we cleaned up everything and put the blanket and other decorations in the trunk, then we went back to the palace.

We called everyone downstairs so we can tell them the news.

"Erik what's happening" his father asked coming down the stairs.

He pulled my hand in the air "This is happening".

When they saw the ring, they rushed down the stairs, smiling and yelling their congratulations. They hugged us long and tight.

"I'm so happy for you two" his mother held our faces in her hands.

We called every guard and employee that was on shift and my father opened a champagne for all of us. Everyone congratulated us, we could see the genuine happiness in their faces. They played some music and started dancing, it was weird to see all of them happy and smiling, in a positive way, of course. 

Erik put his arm around my waist, and we exchanged looks smiling. He leaned in my ear and whispered "I love you".

"I love you too" I whispered back.

When the small party ended the king turned to both of us, "Tomorrow you must announce the engagement to the public" he paused "Also, we need to make a engagement party, it's a tradition"

"We will do everything father, just breathe please" Erik replied giggling.

"I'm relaxed don't worry" he looked around "I'm just happy and excited" 

"Hopefully, Cassian will surprise us like this someday" the queen teased.

"Don't take the spotlight off them mother" Cassian replied and we all chuckled.

Minutes later we all went in our rooms. As I entered our room, Erik was walking behind me and he grabbed my waist, hugging me from behind, "Soon you will be Princess Ana Hansen of Vremineian" he kissed my shoulder.

"Ana Hansen" I repeated "sounds nice"

The next morning

"Erik wake up" I shook his arm "Come on we need to compose the announcement"

He groaned "Five more minutes please" he put his arm around me, trapping me in bed. I sneaked out of bed and went to the bathroom to wash myself. Moments later Erik came in and put his toothbrush in his moth still sleepy. I giggled and waited for him to finish so we can go to his study and expose ourselves to the public.

When we entered the room, he closed the door behind him and grabbed my waist pulling me closer to him. "I missed you" he kissed me.

"I was here all the time, how could you miss me?" I giggled.

"It's special kind of missing" he smirked.

I rolled my eyes "Aren't you sleepy? Also, we have other responsibilities"

He groaned "Can we leave all the work to our parents? By the way I'm very much woken now".

I laughed "I wish we could do that" and turned to the computer but he grabbed my arms and smashed his lips on mine. He deepened the kiss and walked over to the desk, pushing me against it, "Erik" I said in-between kisses "we have work to do". He pulled away and put his hands on the desk, locking me between him and the desk "We can do the work later" he smirked.

"No, we can't" I walked under his arms and sat in front of the laptop. He groaned, grabbed a chair and sat beside me.

We composed the letter we sent the announcement to the national TV channel and all regional channels. The press answered almost immediately and sent their congratulations, as well as the headlines for the online articles and the newspapers. We approved the headlines and when we were done, I just shot the laptop close, and we both sighed.
