Chapter 5: News (Erik's POV)
I was sitting with my family at the hotel lobby drinking espresso. I didn't know how to tell them what I did last night. I knew that I did a big thing without even consulting with them, at least I should've talked to Cassian.
"How was dinner yesterday, Erik?" my mom asked.
I snapped out of my thoughts "Great! It was great, yes"
Stop being weird
"Your head is up in the clouds, Erik" my father said, and they all laughed at me. I looked at each one of them and hesitated whether to start the conversation or not.
"The waiter, Viktor I think was his name, was right when he said to be careful around her" my mother smirked.
"If you ask me, I won't even try to go near her, she looks cunning" Cassian teased "She can mess up your mind" he spun his finger around his head.
I rolled my eyes "Since you are all in a good mood, I have some news to tell you, but promise you won't freak out"
"What is it?" they all asked in sync.
I opened my mouth and closed it, then opened it again and after a moment I spilled "I asked Ana to come to our kingdom because I want to marry her"
They all looked at me with their eyes wide open. My mother opened her mouth but closed it in the same second. They stayed silent for a minute when my dad said "You did what?"
"Erik what have you done..." my mom sounded worried.
"I know it sounds crazy, but it happened. Its sudden but I know I did the right thing" I explained.
"But honey, you don't even know her"
"I have plenty of time to get to know her. I don't plan to marry her in a week" I turned to my brother "Cassian, what do you think?"
"I think you are out of your mind, but I support you" he said while laughing.
"This is not a game Erik. She has a different lifestyle, different culture, hell you too have nothing in common. I cannot let you drag this girl in our kingdom and kick her out the moment you realize that she is not the one for you." I could see the anger on my father's face.
"Who said that I will kick her? You really think that low of me?" my blood started boiling
"He didn't mean that, right Frank?" my mom asked
"Hell yes I did. I know how spoiled and selfish he is."
"Careful there father. If you insult me then you are insulting yourself, at the end of the day, I learnt my manners from YOU!"
He looked at me, his eyes were full of anger "Fine, do whatever you want but if you screw up you will take responsibility for that." He got up and left the lobby.
"I should go and calm him down" mom said, "And Erik, be careful".
Cassian was observing the situation carefully. He always does that, he remains quiet but at the end he gives the best solutions and advices. He looked at me saying "I know you are insane, but you are not that crazy to bring a girl to our house and kick her out later. You have done stupid shit in the past, but you have never humiliated a girl. And I think Ana is the perfect girl for you. She's will put you in your place. Hell, she already did."
"Thank you for your detailed analysis brother but you should tell that to mom and dad, not me. I already know that." I got up and left the hotel, I needed fresh air.
I was walking by the river, and I started thinking about her. Her bright smile appeared in front of my face and I caught myself smiling like and idiot. There is something about her that makes me feel this way. I don't know if that's her cute laughter or her dark, mysterious eyes, or maybe the way she carries herself or maybe all of it. It's probably all of it. Her soothing voice rang in my ears. "Ding" The ring on my phone brought me back to reality. I shook my head and grabbed my phone. I got a message from Cassian, he sent me pictures of me and Ana from last night. Probably the paparazzi took them. I opened them and started smiling again.
I want to see her.
I started walking towards her club, if I'm lucky I will find her there.
I entered the club and saw her talking to someone. She was pointing her finger at some guy, clearly angry. When I got closer, I heard her angry voice, she was hissing at the guy. I couldn't understand what she was saying because she was talking in her language. The guy grabbed her waist and she pushed him. He grabbed her again and I felt my blood boiling. I was still angry from earlier today and without any doubt I grabbed the guy.
"Let her go!" I said.
The guy turned to me and gave me a confusing look, "Excuse me?"
I pointed at Ana while tightening the grip on his arm, "She is uncomfortable, let her go"
"Who are you?" he asked letting a laugh.
"Her future husband. Now let her go, I won't repeat again"
"You are not my future husband, stop saying that to people" she said looking at me annoyed. I gave both of them a stern look.
"Ana, who is this freak?" the guy asked pointing at me.
Ana rolled her eyes, "Petar, you should go"
"I'm not going till you tell me what's going on here"
Ana wanted to say something but I was faster "I already told you, she is my future wife now get out of here"
"Fine, but Ana our conversation isn't over" he scanned me up and down and left
I turned to her and she was already staring at me "Who is that guy?"
She crossed her arms around her chest "My ex-boyfriend. Thank you for your rescue it was very not needed"
"Thank you for your rescue it was very not needed" I mocked her reaction "You are welcome" I said narrowing my eyes "Are you okay?"
"I am. Don't worry he's not dangerous"
She looked at me before going behind the bar "Do you want a drink?"
I shook my head, "I'm sorry that I appeared out of nowhere, I just wanted to see you"
"Good, because I wanted to see you as well" she purred double vodka in a crystal glass.
"Oh, really?" I smirked
"Stop smiling, we need to talk"
