Chapter 13: A Day off (Erik's POV)
It's been a week since Ana came to Vremineian and we barely had a free time together, except the day when the game was held. She started managing her business and due to different time zones, she had to stay up late at night. I on the other hand had a lot of royal duties and meetings and was exhausted at night so I had to go to bed early. I was only seeing her in the mornings and at lunch and I missed her. So, today is Saturday and I decided to take her out of the palace for a day or two if she agrees.
I knocked on the door of her study room "Ana, it's me. Can I come in?"
"Of course" she yelled from the other side.
I went in and found her in front of her laptop taking some notes. She looked cute when she was focused on work, "What are you doing?"
"Just calculating some numbers from the past few nights" she answered with a pen in her mouth.
"You know that you don't have to be virtually present there all the time"
"Yes, but I have to until I'm sure everything runs smoothly" she smiled, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"Come on, turn off the computer and come with me"
"Where?"
"Today is your day off, I don't want to hear any complains"
"But it's Saturday, it's the busiest day in the club" she protested.
"I'm sure Viktor can manage it without you watching the cameras all the time," I grabbed her arm gently and pulled her up, closing the laptop.
"Where are we going?" she smiled pecking my lips.
"On a picnic"
She went to our room to change and I waited her in the garden.
"Sir, the picnic basket is ready" Dolores handed me the basked, "Thank you Dolores" I smiled at her.
"I'm ready!" I heard Ana yelling from the hall. She had put on a soft yellow sundress decorated with pink flowers. Her dark hair was falling flawlessly down her shoulders and her face lit up under the sunlight. I gasped, scanning her up and down
"You look beautiful" I kissed her cheek.
"Thank you" she blushed.
The classic red Mustang was parked in front of the main gates. I opened the car door for her before I sat on the driver's seat. My plan was to take her to a private lake owned by my family that was two hours away from the palace. Until we reached the destination we were gossiping about Eliza and Andreis and some other family secrets. We laughed at Eliza's annoyed face that she was making every time saw us together and Andreis's bad copying skills.
"Did you see Andreis when he almost stumbled upon his own feet trying to walk like you?" she laughed hard
"Noo! I never focus on the details. I didn't even notice that he was copying me until you pointed that out."
"You are missing all the fun" she giggled.
When we finally arrived I parked the car and took the things out of the trunk, and we sat near the lake. In front of us was stationed the small rowboat that was used to cross the lake and reach the wooden cottage that also belonged to us.
The water was calm and the whole nature was peaceful. The birds and the crickets were singing in rhythm. A warm breeze touched our skin as we sat down.
"This is amazing" said Ana, throwing her head up in the sky.
"It really is" I said while purring wine.
We talked and laughed for hours. The more that I got to know her, the more I loved her. Who would have thought that the girl of my dreams would be born on the other side of the world? I mean, isn't it cruel that sometimes God separates two souls at such distance, and they spend years and years not knowing about each other, but feeling each other until one day a serendipity happens and the souls finally meet? What if something disturbs the event and the souls miss their chance to meet? They would be miserable until their last breath.
"Is there something on the other side of the lake?" she asked.
"Wanna know?" I smiled "Come on, hop on the boat"
She hopped on the boat without any hesitations, and I followed her. I started rowing and she turned on the little radio that was placed in the boat. The first song that played was ,,Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis Presley. Her cheeks blushed and I couldn't help but smile. She leaned on the bench and a small bird landed on her shoulder.
"Hey cutie" she gently petted the bird "Look at this baby" she turned to me smiling.
I didn't say anything, I just watched her as she enjoyed every single moment, smiling. The sun was slowly setting down and the sky turned orange. I felt like I was in a fairytale and I wanted to stay in this moment forever. The sound of Ana's laughter was blended with the melody of the music that was playing and I've never felt more alive in my whole life.
I stopped the boat and helped her get out of it. She grabbed my hand and we started walking into the forest. A few steps later we saw the cottage that was hidden in between the trees.
"You own a lake and a cottage?" her eyes were wide open.
"I guess those are the perks of royalty" I smirked.
We entered the cottage and she wandered around, scanning every inch of the interior.
"I always dreamed of living in a cottage, growing my own food and making herbal potions!"
I laughed "Maybe we won't live here but we can come whenever you want" I moved closer to her, putting my arms around her waist. We danced in circles looking in each other's eyes and I pressed my lips on hers.
"This may sound weird, and I know that you are already staying with me, but" I cleared my throat "Do you want to be my girlfriend?"
She tilted her head "Yes" and she kissed me.
The sun was already gone so there was no point going back, and we decided to spend the night in the cottage. The air got chill even though it's summer and I grabbed some wood and lit the fireplace. The cottage is small, on the ground floor there is an open living room with a fireplace in the corner and a small green kitchen on the other side. Upstairs are the bedroom and the bathroom. When me and Cassian were kids, we would come here with our parents and one of us used to sleep with them in the bedroom and the other one slept on the couch. We would wander around the garden and play in the lake. Now I imagine doing that with my kids in the future.
Ana prepared tea and we sat on the couch. We drank it in silence, but I didn't mind that. Even silence is comfortable with her.
"Today was very beautiful, thank you" she said after we finished with our tea.
"We should do this more often if you plan on working all the time" I chuckled.
"I promise I won't work much" she robbed my face "I missed you so much during the past few days and I'm sorry I didn't give you much attention"
"Don't worry, we both had our responsibilities, but let's promise to each other that no matter how much work we have, we will always make time for each other"
"I promise"
"So do I" I smiled and kissed her gently but moments later I deepened the kiss. She pulled me closer to her and I laid above her, my hands landed on her hips. She took of my shirt and slid her hands down my back. I pulled her dress up and my hands touched her bare skin. She shivered on my touch and her body immediately warmed up. I helped her take off her dress and continued kissing every inch of her body.
