Chapter 27: Hangover (Erik's POV)
I woke up with a headache. Yesterday with Ana we drank a little bit more champagne and later we switched on vodka. Last thing I remember was that I was dying of laughter with Cassian when someone stumbled upon my feet and fell on the ground, but my drunk ass was unstable, and I fell over them. It's funny that people think royals never drink too much, but I'm always here to debunk their theories.
I sat on the bed leaning against the headboard rubbing my forehead. Ana woke up with a groan, "My head" she cried.
"I feel you" I said with low tone. She looked at me squeezing her eyes, "We drank too much" she closed her eyes "The light bothers me" she winced. I got up and closed the curtains, then grabbed two bottles of water from the mini fridge, tossing myself back in bed. "Thanks" she said opening the bottle.
We sat in bed for half an hour not saying anything. My head was pounding even though I took a painkiller, and my stomach was in knots, the bad ones. Ana managed to get up and freshen up after she drank two bottles of water.
"Gosh, I haven't been hangover for years" I mumbled. I wanted to take my head off for the day and attach it back on my shoulders tomorrow. If only that was possible. When I was a teenager I drank constantly, it was fun or at least I thought. I used to get wasted for nothing and the next day I wouldn't leave my bed. Now when I see teenagers doing the same, I just want to tell them to stop, there's absolutely nothing fun or good in drowning in alcohol.
"Can't relate" Ana said from the bathroom, "We should check on Andreis, he literally fell on his face without trying to stop himself" she yelled from behind the bathroom door.
I scrunched my brows in confusion, "We will". I managed to get out of bed and bring myself to the bathroom. I could still feel the vodka in my mouth, so I brushed my teeth twice. I used a good amount of mouthwash as well.
My head hurt, my eyes hurt, even my throat hurt and felt very dry. "I swear I will never drink again" I mumbled.
Ana giggled, "If someone gave me a dollar every time I've said that exact same sentence".
After my head calmed a bit, I went downstairs to put some food in my stomach. I went to the kitchen and found Andreis lurking in the fridge. "Morning cousin" I said, "If you find any light food in there, please share it with me."
He turned around holding apples in his hand, "Morning" he tossed me an apple "Sadly this is the only thing our stomachs can hold right now"
We sat on the table eating our apples. My body have never been happier to receive some vitamins. I felt the burn in my stomach being absorbed with every bite from the fruit. Andreis told me how he ended up on the floor. Apparently, I've extended my leg unexpectedly just when he was walking towards me and Cassian and he stumbled upon my toe, and I've fallen over him. Now he has a small bruise on his nose. We laughed a bit and then he took two more apples and some strawberries to bring to Mariet.
I sighed but I didn't really know why. Maybe it was due to my hangover, maybe because me and my family were finally at peace, or maybe because a lot had happened in the past few months that I didn't have time to process what was actually going on.
It was still unbelievable to me how much my life had changed. Earlier this year I was the hot, young prince who apparently was the biggest heartbreaker and dream crusher to many girls and now I'm getting married to a girl that orders tequila shot if she had had sex the night before. I wasn't complaining though. I was happy, Ana was happy, it was all that mattered.
The wedding is next week and for once in my life my family agreed to let the whole planning and decorating to the professionals. Me and Ana will only give them some ideas and they will show us pictures and different styles of our idea. Since there will not be a church ceremony, we must pick a wedding venue or any spot in nature that we liked by ourselves, and that's exactly what we are going to do today.
We have already looked at some spots and we are left with two more. The first one we looked were outdoors but since the weather is getting colder, we decided to seek an indoor venue. Hopefully, we will pick one today.
She came downstairs a couple of minutes later dressed casually, blue jeans, white shirt and brown cardigan.
"Are you hungry?" I asked.
"No, my stomach got full of all the water I've drank" she shook her head. I grabbed her hand and kissed her on the cheek. We walked out of the palace and entered my car. I started driving to the first venue that we were supposed to see. An hour-long ride awaited us, I swear sometimes I hate that we leave out of the civilization.
Ana plugged the aux on her phone and played Abba. She was singing and vibing on the music while I glanced into her direction from time to time, smiling to myself.
When we arrived, a young woman welcomed us, "Prince Erik, miss Ana, I'm Ellen" she nodded, "We are happy that you came today"
"Thank you for the warm welcome" Ana smiled and we entered the venue.
The woman cleared her throat, "So this is it, it's big enough, wide enough, we can add more chairs if you need. Of course now it's not decorated and it looks abandoned" she chuckled, "But once you decorate it will be magical." She showed us some photos from pervious weddings and it was indeed magical.
The venue was big enough for all our guests. It had a simple black chairs and white carpet. Everything else was empty. There was a huge floor-to-ceiling window right were the carpet ended and the sun had lightened the whole venue.
The woman gave some decoration ideas to us and later we said goodbye.
When we entered our car I turned to Ana, "I like this one, I think we should take this. We will see the other one for sure"
"I agree. This venue will look great especially after decoration, plus the window gives lots of natural light".
The next stop was twenty minutes away and we arrived quickly. This time an older man named Ivan welcomed us. The venue was an old church that was turned into some Hogwarts hall for weddings. The hall had fake flowers all around the ceiling and tiny windows that didn't give much light. It was beautiful but somehow the first one got our hearts.
We said goodbye to the man, and we entered the car. As soon as I started the car I called the young woman from the previous venue and said that we will take that one. Ana sent the venue location to the company that we arranged to do the decorations and with that we did the last thing for our wedding.
"I can't wait for another week" I thought glancing at Ana.
