WITH ALL OF the commotion life outside of Petunia, my attention towards school became out of focus. I hadn't remembered or realised that the Winter Formal was so much closer than what I had imagined. I'm sure that the days stayed the same however time passed so quickly.
Such little time that I had to decide on a formal dress, I reached out to Mina to find me a dress since she was so clever in knowing what would look good on me. The dress she had chosen was a simple yet elegant black dress with an asymmetrical cut in the middle. I admired how it wouldn't make me stand out.
Peter was waiting for me outside of my apartment wearing an all-black tux. He was leaning against the wall, texting someone on his phone while combing through his hair with his fingers. He looked very handsome and put together with his entire outfit. He looked up and realised that I'd come out, "Damn, you look hot in that dress Marcella."
"Thanks," I said softly. I thought I'd die on the spot when Peter would look at me and find me hot. It wasn't like that though. There was an iffy feeling to it.
The Winter Formal was held in the Great Hall in Petunia. The hall itself was massive in size yet was extravagant and showcased how much money the school had. It was decorated head to toe with snow and twinkling LED lights. A snow machine was near the entrance, welcoming all the formal patrons in. The room was already filled with plenty of students partying their hearts out on the dance floor no doubt on some sort of substance. Peter immediately headed towards the crowd of people, to no surprise, while I headed towards the table where Alice and Morgan were sitting.
"You man headed towards the dance floor already?" Alice said.
"Get me out of here already," I said, resting my head on my propped up arm. "I regret coming."
Alice hit me playfully, "Come on M, what happened to living out your teenage years?"
"I literally dragged myself here," I said. "I would rather be in bed planning the Plantations charity ball in January."
Morgan laughed at my misery. I watched the other students joyously dancing amongst each other dancing to "Best Song Ever" by One Direction to which I laughed to myself. I fondly remember the memories associated with the song. How I could go back to the days.
Elenor walked up to our table in an aggravated face. "Does anyone know where Matthews has gone? Or why is he so moody and grumpy?" I looked at Alice wondering if I should tell her something helpful or truthful. "No sorry, we haven't seen him." She rushed off quickly in an aggressive walk.
I excused myself to the bathroom, sensing that my presence was deterring Alice and Morgan from enjoying the Winter Formal as they should. Walking towards the bathrooms, I passed Penelope Lang who gave me a sparkly glare as she walked away from me. I felt so loved.
I leaned against the counters in the bathroom and texted Mina.

Mina's compliment made me smile from what a sad night it had become. I sighed to myself as I looked into the mirror. What a waste of a good outfit.
"Fuck," someone groaned out behind me. I looked up to see Elias. A very drunk and hammered Elias. "Heeeyy, princesca," he said, slurring his words.
