"Thank you!" Karl called back to the worker at the counter before walking back out to Dream.

"C'mon let's go," he said.

Dream stood up from the small table, following behind Karl.

They had finished eating their food, and most of the time they had talked about Sapnap.

Dream felt scared — scared that things would just be the same whenever he goes back. That he'd be stuck in love with Sapnap while the other just lets the other struggle without realizing.

Karl gave Dream advice that he took into consideration.

"Maybe you could talk to him a little bit. Get used to being friends again. But do it at your own pace. Don't rush yourself to talk to him," he recalls Karl saying.

"I'll call him later tonight."

He decided. Karl looked up at him with question. His eyes read , "are you sure you really want to?" Karl didn't need to speak for Dream to know what he was thinking.

"I think I'll be fine." Dream said, huffing as he spoke.

"Think or know?"

"Think," Dream replied. "And if I'm not okay, I'll take a step back. I'll focus more on me than mending my relationships."

That was the end of that conversation.

Suddenly, Dream remembered some of the events that happened the other night.

"Shit, Karl," he said, looking up to meet the other. "I broke my phone."

Karl rolled his eyes, "Good luck calling him then," he scoffed playfully.

"Wait, no Karl! Please just let me use your phone or computer. I could sign into discord or something."

"Chill Dream," Karl chuckled, "I'm not an asshole. I'll let you call him."

—————

Dream did just what he said he would when he got back to Karl's place.

"I can just hop on your computer, right?" The blond asked.

"Yeah, I don't use a password either so you should be fine."

Dream nodded before walking towards Karl's bedroom door.

"Good luck," Karl calls out from the living room couch.

Dream smiles even though Karl can't see it. He doesn't stop or reply, he just continues to walk into the room, closing the door quietly behind him.

He turns to his right, facing Karl's desk. He walks over to the simplistic set up before sitting down in the office chair. He moves the mouse, watching as the screen lit up.

It takes a bit of time, Dream having to sign out of Karl's discord account and signing into his, but soon enough he was met with his discord dms.

He clicked on Sapnap's name, thinking things through before calling.

He's not sure if he wants to hear the other's voice quite yet. Maybe he's doing what Karl told him not to, rushing. He feels like he's trying to make things move quicker than they should.

He wants nothing more than to talk to Sapnap and for everything to be fine, but something deep inside his core is telling him that it won't work like that, and things won't be like how they used to be— at all.

And the anxiety he feels as the cursor hovers over the call button, it rushes through his veins, sending unwanted shivers down his spine.

He stares at the screen, continuing to contemplate what to do.
