I love organizing, until I don't. This whole back room is a mess. Boxes upon boxes of mixed records and CD's. This is ridiculous.
As i'm sorting through the boxes I hear something . I hear Eden talking. To who? No idea. Doesn't sound like Mr. Picks. As I start to shuffle to the main room, I hear Eden start to laugh.
"Eden? Who's up there?"
"Mama! Mama! Come here!"
Oh Lordy. I try and shuffle quicker and as I get to the back of the room I see four men standing around the counter. The tallest having dark, curly long hair. He wore a white Fleetwood Mac shirt with dark red jeans. The one standing next to him was little shorter with long, soft brown hair. Both of them laughing with Eden. There were two more but couldn't see them good enough. I finally get up to the counter where Eden is.
"Hello, what can I do for you guys?" I asked look at both of them.
"Hi, I'm Sam and this is Danny," Sam said pointing to Danny. Danny waved. "We're here to drop off some records for Mr-" and I waved my hands before he could finish.
"Eden here can take you to the back to drop them off." I said smiling down at Eden. She beamed up at me and hopped down the stool. She grabbed Sam's hand and Danny followed her to the back room. I noticed the other two were still standing talking with their backs to me.
"Hi, do you guys need any help?" I asked. One of them turned around. He was shorter than Danny and Sam, but like them had long hair too. He smiled and nudged the other with his elbow. The other turned around and looked at him before me.
As soon as we looked at each other... I nearly passed out. Blood flushed into my cheeks and my heart felt like it was going to burst. Unlike the other three, he had shorter, curly hair. He had a white shirt with a necklace hanging low off his neck. He just stared back. Why was he staring. I knew why I was, but why him? I asked again.
"Do you guys need help with anything?" I stammered out. God. I need friends I suck at talking.
"Oh no. Our brother and friend were dropping off records and were buying some." The one with long hair held his hand out and I shook it. It was warm, but rough. And I felt the tips of his fingers to be the roughest.
"Do you play?" I asked, and he gave me a questionable look. "Sorry." I giggled. "I meant play guitar." He laughed and nodded his head.
"Yeah I do. Actually, all four of us are in a band together." He said looking towards the back where Sam and Danny were. "I play the lead guitar, Sam's bass, Danny's drums, and this goon," he said patting his brothers shoulder. He was still staring. "Is our singer." He said smiling back at me.
"Really?" I asked looking at the other one. I wanted to talk to him. He finally blinked and looked at the floor real quick.
"Yeah. We're all in the band. I'm Jake by the way."
"Nice to meet you Jake." I said looking at him smiling. "And you are?" I asked the other.
"Oh I'm sorry," he said walking up to the register. Jake took a small step back with a smirk on his face, and looked at the ground. "Im Josh." He held out his hand. Like Jakes, it was warm. But unlike Jakes, it was soft.
"It's okay." I giggled. He just beamed at me.
Then we all jumped when we heard Eden scream. She came sprinting from the back to the register.
"Mama! Mama there was a mouse!" She practically flew into my arms. I picked her up and held her.
"It's alright love. Mice can't hurt you." She clung to me tighter. Sam and Danny came running out and they both looked worried.
"I didn't know she was scared of mice. She just saw one and took off." Sam explained. He looked at Eden and smiled at her. She turned more to him and smiled back.
"Eden. Mama needs to check out the records for these young men." She tightened her grip again. I new she likes Sam and he seemed keen to her as well. "Sam? Would you like to hold Eden for a moment?" I asked and he quickly nodded. She jumped into his arms and he picked her up and put her on his shoulders. She was grinning ear to ear as was Sam. I laughed and started ringing up the records.
"Ooo. This is a good album from him." I said looking at Josh. He was staring at me again. He blinked.
"Hm? Sorry again I wasn't paying attention."
"Do you normally stare off into space?" I asked. His cheeks got red and he looked down.
"No. I normally don't stare at anything. Not until you." He blushed. Jesus. He peeked back at me and I smiled. He was beautiful. Chocolate brown eyes. Pretty white smile. He was a couple of inches taller than me. He smiled back.
"Well. Here ya go." I said setting his bags down.
"Thank you." He said. We were so close to touching hands and he was staring right into my eyes. Why was he staring? Did I have something on my face? Could be dust from the back room. I looked down and blush.
"Come on Eden. They've gotta go and we have work to do." She looked back up at me and put on her pouting face. "Nope. Not working today." She rolled her eyes and I laughed. I looked at all the boys. "Thank you Sam for helping Eden."
"No problem. She's funny. Funnier than Danny." He laughed while Danny shoved him.
They all gave Eden high fives and walked out. I didn't know it then, but this was the best day of my life.
