Josh's POV
We got out of the truck at the park looking around for Eden and her. Her. God she was beautiful. I could watch her forever. She had the perfect smile. And she had dark brown wavy hair that always fell perfectly. I don't think she ever knew me before yesterday. I did. I've known her for as long as I've known the record store. Her always sorting through music is the back aisles. Humming and swaying to what ever song was on. She worked with her dad for a year before he left. And I would go to the store every chance I got to see her. And to finally talk to her. God.
Jake patted my shoulder and looked at me. "You good?" He asked. I nodded and went to get the blankets. Sam saw them first so we started walking over.
She had the blanket down and was setting out food while talking to Eden. They were laughing. It was the best sound to hear. Eden is just like her mom. Looks like her, sounds like her. They even share the same mannerisms. But they were different though. Eden could talk to anyone. She however, was more quiet.
As we walked closer Eden saw Sam and raced over. Eden had her moms smile. And I looked up and saw her watching Eden jump into Sam's arms. And she looked at me and waved. I smiled and waved back, feeling my face get hot.
"Don't embarrass yourself now." Jake chuckled. I spun around and gave him a dirty look only for him to laugh.
I laid the blanket down next to theirs and over heard her and Jake talking.
"Wine is like apple juice to me. If I want to get crazy, tequila is my go to." She laughed. I sat down next to her and smiled."Me too." I said. She blushed and looked away.
We ate and talked. I watched as she made a flower crown with the dandelions around us. She put it on, looked at me and grinned. Holy hell. The sun was slowly setting, so the sunset had a orange glow. And it hit her perfectly. Her skin glowing, and her eyes. Oh those eyes. Dark brown. They looked golden. And I stared. She blushed and looked away.
"Mama?" Eden asked.
"Yes love?" She said. She was always kind and attentive to Eden. Another thing to love.
"Can they stay for dinner?" Eden asked. I peeked over to her and saw her softly smile.
"Only if they want to." She said. Of course we did. I did.
And as quick as she answered, we started packing up.
——————Driving to her house, the windows were down and the music was going. 'Lipstick Traces' was playing. It's been playing since yesterday. And before that even.
"Why are we listening to this song so much?" Jake groaned.
"Hay, it's a good song!" I snapped.
"Eden said this is her mom's favorite song. Did you know what?" Sam snickered. I blushed, but kept looking out the window.
"You got it bad huh?" Danny asked.
"I can't help it." I sighed. "She's perfect. Even when she's not, which is hardly ever. She's smart and funny. She's kind and loving to everyone. And especially Eden." I said.
"She's a really good mom." Jake said. I nodded.
We pulled up the house and it was everything I expected. Small, but cozy. It had plants and wind chimes all around the porch. Eden and her were getting out of the car and she looked so beautiful. She wasn't doing anything, but still managed to take my breath away.
We got out of the car, and Eden came running to us. Sam scooped her up and she was laughing. I looked around and saw how much their house looked like a home. I looked at her to see her staring at me.
