I began the short stroll to the little village down the road, I can always come back to the woods if I don't find her in town. I nodded to myself; I passed the school I would be attending on my way. It wasn't a large school, but it was big enough to hold all the villages local children. My first stop when entering the village was the book shop where I had first met this mysterious girl.
When I couldn't find her there, I looked in a couple of shops and then the library. With a huff of breath, I them made my way through the large park passed the village hall. It was a quite one today, there were a couple of elderly couples walking about butt hat was mainly it. Most people in the village in and out of shops doing their shopping for upcoming events, I was looking around When I heard a voice from the distance shouting.
"Hey kid!" catching my attention I turned around to see two people a male and female walking towards me in police uniforms, "your dropped these." The female said as they reached me, she held out my set of keys and I slapped my hand on my face pulling them down while blushing.
"Thank you, officers." I said while taking the keys off them and shoving them within my Coat pocket before zipping it up securely. The officers watched me for a moment before speaking up.
"We haven't seen you here before, visiting a relative?" I looked up at them before shaking my head.
"My named Arabella more, we have just moved in." The lady officers body tensed as she looked at me with a shocked expression, her partner looked at her before making a nervous laughter and nudged her but she didn't budge
"Officer Marcus Radcliffe and this is my sister Officer Juliet Vanguard." I smiled and shook his outstretched hand; the name Vanguard sounds familiar.
"Bella?!" I heard a sweet music like voice call me name, I turned slightly and looked behind me to see my cousin Harriet Longbottom strutting her way towards me. she wore a black blazer and bell-bottomed trousers top. As she walked closure to us, her loving soft eyes that linger on me turned hard and cold as the wondered from me to the officers behind me.
"You two aren't harassing my cousin, are you?" she spoke as she stood behind me, Harriet was my fathers cousin. She was a hard knock reporter who has travelled worldwide but is based here, it was normal for police and reporters to dislike each other but this felt next level.
"Of course, we aren't Harriet. We were just talking," officer Vanguard spoke through gritted teeth. Marcus grabbed Juliet's shoulders and bid me a good by before walking away from us, with one last evil look towards my cousin.
"What are you doing out here anyways bells?" My cousin asked catching my full attention, I turned to her fully and smiled shaking my head. Our family was never massively close with moms' side of the family apparently something happened to have mom disowned and Fathers family other then Moreen and Harriet were with dead or just not in the picture.
"I'm just looking for a friend, you haven't seen her have you? Her name is Mystic Jones?" her whole body tensed and froze in place and she looked down at me not blinking. I raised an eyebrow as she stuttered out.
"What?" I looked at her oddly, I began feeling a bit uncomfortable under my cousin's stare. She took a step forward while I took one back and she opened her mouth and closed it again like a fish reaching out for me. she snapped out of it when she heard her camera man calling her name. She turned ad looked at him before looking back at me and walking off without a word, I watched her walk away and moved to the nearest bench to Siv though my thoughts.
Okay, the twins are talking to invisible people fact. There are things going on in the house I cannot explain fact. People seem to be hiding thing and going odd when I mention Mystic fact. Eleanor is missing fact. Vanguard sounds familiar fact. I cannot stand the woods... I know I am missing something; they must connect somehow, but how.
While Mulling over my thought and trying to figure something, anything out I hadn't noticed a person sitting beside me or their eyes that were currently point-blank staring at me. It was her sweat voices that had finally pulled me from my thoughts breaking the connection I was following. "If the winds of change come you will be stuck like that"
I looked over to my left to see Mystic sat there in all her glory, she had a calming smile on her face as she looked at me. In excitement I wrapped my arms around her for a hug and she did the same laughing, when I pulled away a couple of people looked at us in an odd manor before walking away like we were diseased.
"Ignore them, you are with the weird wood kid remember." I chuckled at her as we both stood from the bench. We started walking side by side as I looked at her.
"You know I've been looking for you." She laughed and smirked at me.
"You know it is really sad that I am your only friend." She laughed as I rolled my eyes at her childishness. "It's okey, you're my only friend too, unfortunately though our time together will be a fleeting one. I have to get my shopping and then get my ass home." She slung a thumb behind her as she spoke.
"I'll come with you; I have nothing better to do today." I shrugged, she smiled at me and liked my arm as we walked, we entered a small little general shop. Looking around the shop I noticed it sold modern foods and drinks unlike the other shops that sold only home-made stuff. I noticed a small mad behind the counter looking at us with kind eyes.
"Good morning," he said with a small respectful nod, we returned the good morning and the nod allowing him to get back to his work. We routed around the isles of the shop looking at different things and throwing the items she needed into a basket I was holding for her; I threw a teddy at her making her jump and stumble.
She fell to the floor and began laughing getting up and dusting herself off before placing the item back. Once we were done mucking about, she walked over to the counter to pay her items while I looked at the different trinkets that were sold. I looked up when I heard fluted patting and noticed Mystics panicked face and she began running around.
"I've lost me purse!" she cried looking around where she fell over, I helped her look around the shops. After a few minutes of not finding anything, I noticed the panicked look on her face, I moved tot the counter and bought the items for her. I grabbed her hand and pulled her from the shops as she sulked.
"It's okay, you'll find it. It's probably a home." I told hr, she nodded and have me a sad siled "Just pay me back when you find it okey??" she nodded her head again, her smile let me know she was eeling a little better, we walked back in comfortable silence. We both stopped as we hit the tree line, the uneasiness I felt was still there but not as bad as usually. Maybe it's because Mystic is with us.
