Artemis
Everything is dark; all I see is darkness. I still feel the pain. I try to detect something. Putting my hands forwards, I try to feel my surrounding, But all I sense is nothing. Feeling frustrated and annoyed, I sit down in the darkness.
I feel useless, helpless. The tears in my eyes fall onto my chubby thighs. Hugging myself, I lay my head on my knees and continue to cry.
"Why are you crying?" A voice says, and I jump in surprise. A bright light attacks me, making me shut my eyes. I open them slowly and look around.
I am in a beautiful meadow.
The trees are a deep shade of green full of life. Some of them have flowers. There is a small stream near them with little fish in the water.
Looking up, the sky is so clear; not a cloud in sight.
The grass is so soft and in a vibrant shade of green. There is a field of wildflowers, in vibrant, rich colours; deep reds, purples, pinks, lavenders, yellows, blues, and oranges.
My jaw hit the floor. A second ago, I was surrounded by darkness and pain. But now, now I feel at peace. My mind is relaxed, my body feels light. My heart feels whole.
It's like heaven. What is this place?
"It's her majesty's garden." The same voice from before says. "Who said that?" I look around, trying to find the source of the voice.
"Down here, silly," they giggle. I look down only to see a bunny. A bunny, what the fuck? I frown, "how can you talk, and how can I understand you?" I bend down and sit on the soft grass. My frown still presents on my face.
"It's the magic surrounding us." He hops to my lap. Pff, magic? As if! I'm dreaming. Of course! Now it makes sense, I'm dreaming. This is why I don't feel anything!
God, I'm so stupid! How didn't I understand that before?! Stopping my self-loathing, I pet the bunny. So soft, a fluff on fur. Being able to relax, I lay back and enjoy the view.
A rustle in the bush a few meters away startles me. I look at the bush, expecting something to jump out of it. But nothing happens. I return to pet the bunny, that is soundly sleeping on my lap.
A peaceful sigh leaves my lips; as I smile widely.
I look up once more, as the rustling return. This time I stand up. Placing the bunny gently on the ground, I go to the bush. Just as I reach it, a figure appears in front of it.
Stepping back, I stumbled on my feet and fall back.
"Hello, my child. No need to be afraid, I won't hurt you." Their voice sounds melodic and harsh at the same time. As if an angel and a warrior speak at the same time.
It's a lady.
She wears a maxi white dress to her ankles and is barefoot. There are slits in the front of the dress to her tights. She has a white aura surrounding her, with wild long midnight hair.
Her face looks like a porcelain doll. Her skin colour is a dark brown, making the white aura shine even brighter. Purple tint to her cheeks and lips. The eyes are white as the moon. And a crown of a crescent moon adorns the top of her head.
But at a second glance, she has the harsh face of a worrier. She has a crescent moon tiara on her forehead. Runes tattoos all over her arms. A bow to her back, a sword to her waist; her aura changes, now it's a mix. Black, red and white, circles around her. She has the eyes of a warrior; eyes that saw many battles, losses and victories.
She looks different at the first glimpse.
"Who are you?" I ask. This lady seems important. Apart from me is drawn to her. But the other part is afraid of her. One side is a feeling of a mother hug and the other of a victorious queen.
"Who am I is not important at the moment. There is someone who is been wanting to meet you for a long time. When the right time comes, you will know who I am."
Ahead of me is a dark fog. A big beautiful black wolf is standing proudly, with white marks on the face. Its eyes are white, with a hint of lavender. The wolf is three times bigger than me. Yet I am not afraid, quite the opposite, I am drawn to it.
I feel connected with it like it's a part of me. And its aura is of power and royalty, a magnificent beast.
This is going to be a dream to remember. As the wolf near me, it speaks. "Hello, Artemis." The wolf's voice is strong as thunder in a storm. "Finally, we meet properly." It continues to speak, but with a softer tone. It sounds almost like the voice in my head.
What the actual fuck?! What is happing?! Don't freak out, don't freak out! It's just a dream! You will wake up soon, and it will all disappear. Take a deep breath; it's just a dream.
"That's because I am the voice in your mind. I am Nyx." She says proudly. So I imagine how the voice in my looks, nice. "I am real, I am the voice inside. I am a part of you. You're my human; I'm your wolf." She ends it with a growl that causes me to jump.
No, no, no! Wolves can't talk; this is not real!
"I am talking to you, ain't I? Of course, I'm real." She speaks in a sarcastic voice. God, this is just a dream. It's not real, just a dream. I pinch myself, wanting it to be a dream and nothing else.
But it doesn't work. Wait, I passed out in the car; I'm unconscious! Now it's all makes sense. I knew animals can't speak!
"Ari, this is serious... I have been waiting for you for 10 years. Hoping you will accept me. Praying you will let me help you. Crying, you will let Diana and me in."
I just stand in front of her, unmoving.
