Artemis
My head throbs with pain as if I've been hit by a truck. I look around to see where I am, but it's like watching a movie. "Don't worry, Artemis. They sedated you; I took control of your body. This is why you are in pain. I forced myself on you."
"Sedated?! What the hell happened?" Why would someone sedate me? I groan; the throbbing pain is the worst! "They tried to kidnap you. Fucking rogues!" What the fuck are rogues? The throbbing continues, making me dizzy with pain. I think I need to sleep. Sleep makes everything ok.
"No, no, Artemis, stay awake; there is something you need to know." She sounds nervous; oh god, I hope no one's dead. "What happened?" I ask fearfully. "Well...Your family witnessed the attack, th-"
"Wait! What? Are they ok? Did they get hurt? I swear to god, if I ever catch who did it, they will suffer." Fury fills me as I think about them; I swore to protect my family. Whoever hurts them will suffer the consequences. "Will you let me finish?" Nyx asks irritated.
"Sorry..." I mutter. What can I say; I am passionate about my family. I get carried away. "Thank you, birdy. As I said, your family witness the attack. They are perfectly fine. Elli and the alphas saved them."
"Elli? Why was she there?" Nyx growls at me. "What did I just say? Stop interrupting me." I roll my eyes at her; bad choice. The headache comes back twice as painful. "Elli and the alphas saved them." She stops and looks at me with her eyebrow raised, waiting for me to interrupt her. I shrug my shoulders.
"I am gonna say something that will trigger you; zip your mouth. Elli shifted. Ah, ah, ah, shush. Not a word. Your mum passed out; they are in the other car, safe. We are going to the penthouse for the time being."
Elli shifted?! That's bad, really bad. I barely warped my head around werewolves. They are humans; this is really bad. Oh god!
"Damn it! Wait, wait, what about Mel and Ben? Why was Elli there in the first place? Why were the twins with her? Why did they try to kidnap me? What are rogues? What do they want with me?" My head is spinning with questions and worries. What if they are hurt?
"Nyx, are you ok? You look pale." Elli asks with worry. I can see her, but I don't have control over my body. "Nyx, give me back control, now!"My voice is firm and steady. I failed my family once. I will not do it again.
"Once we are at the penthouse, there are traces of the drug inside the body. As long as I am in control, I can fight it. You are still a human by all accounts. Which reminds me, you need to start training." I sigh and close my eyes.
"We're here." Nyx didn't wait for a second and got out of the car. She runs to the lift and scans my hand. The lift doors open, and she puts my hand on the left side of the door to keep it open. A minute later, my family walks in. Dad has mum in his hands. She's awake, but she looks weak.
I want to ask if she's ok, but I remember that Nyx is in control. That sucks! "Now you know how I felt for the past 10 years, birdy." I puff, "stop calling me birdy!" "In your dreams, chatterbox." She chuckles on her own god damn joke!
We all enter the lift. The twins immediately come to me, one on each side. As if they are trying to protect me. Their scent is divine. Nothing like I ever smelled before. A mix of fire, rain, chocolate and jasmine blossom. Nyx is about to pounce on their necks to get a better whiff while a droll is dripping from my lips.
What the hell is wrong with me?!
"Nyx, back off! What got into you?" I exclaim. Nothing is making sense! "I don't know; they smell so good." She whines.
The lift dings just in time so spear my embarrassment. Nyx was the first out. And I think, Elli noticed the interaction I just had with myself. Fucking embarrassing!!
"Now that we are inside, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?! YOU CAME OUT OF NOWHERE! YOU TWO WERE FIGHTING FUCKING WOLVES. ARTEMIS, YOU WERE FIGHTING, I never saw you fight before. You threw a fucking human, like it was a toy." Melanie yells. Her face is red, her hands are fisted. I swear that if it was a cartoon, she would have had smoke coming out of her ears.
"Who were they? Why was there a giant wolf inside the house? And who the hell are these two?" Dad asks angrily and points to the twins at the end.
"Let's all sit down; Artemis is exhausted, and your wife needs to rest," Nyx says. Her voice is very different from mine, even though it's my body. Her voice has graff to it.
"Artemis, did you lose your mind? You're standing in front of me. And what happened to your voice?" Dad asks in fury. "Adam! Let her explain. You got caught in something that is way out of your league." Elli says intensely. She looks tense, but after the night we had, I do not blame her. She is always serious.
"You are a werewolf, aren't you, Elli?" Melanie speaks softly. Nyx turn my head so fast that I am surprised I didn't break my neck. "How did you know?" Elli asks surprised, her jaw is open wide and her arms are on her sides. Melanie shrugs her shoulders. Nyx asks as well, but she reminds quietly.
Suddenly, Ben starts laughing hysterically. "Did you people lose it? Werewolves? You expect me to believe that a person I know for over a decade is a werewolf?! Pfff." He laughed while Elli and the twins stay quiet.
I can tell that Elli is not here; she looks detached. Maybe she's talking to her wolf. I blink and all of a sudden Sky is in front of me. How does she do it so fast? "Training, one day, you will be as fast as her," Nyx says to me, proudly. I smile fondly; one day I will be strong.
The headache is still there, but not as before, I guess I got used to it. One question that bothers me the most is why were Elli and the twins in my house. How did they know I was in danger.
"We just knew, we felt it." I guess Nyx asked it out loud as Dean answers my question. "I have a theory, may I touch your hand?" Victoria asks. I hesitate, but I am also curious. I nod yes to Nyx. She puts my hand in hers.
Nothing happens, Nyx takes out my hand just as I feel tingles. Nyx looks at her in shock. "What was that?" I ask, but no one is there to answer.
