Tommy pov

The next morning, I called a family meeting in the betting den. Everyone was here except of course Ada but we would fill her in over the phone later. Once everyone was settled, I began to explain why everyone was here although all the men knew why. It was just polly. Esme wasn't here for this meeting because she was with the Lees and I had already told lizzie everything last night so she saw no reason to come. But I thought it best to gather everyone so I can explain what arrangements are being made so finn can see his daughter

"So, last night as some of you already know, we met a little girl and her mother. The little girl, Lydia, just so happens to be Finns daughter and we will do our best to make her part of this family" I stopped for a minute to give polly time to yell

"A kid? How old is she? Why didn't we know before? Did you know finn? Why did no one tell me sooner?" I stopped her after that

"Yes right pol. Calm down. She is 5 years old. You remember the girl finn lost his virginity to, that Rosa girl, she's the mother. Kept her in London all her life and didn't bother telling finn. We watched her when she didn't know and she hit the kid. Doesn't seem like a great mother but she's her mother nonetheless" finn was looking down nothing able to make eye contact with anyone

"So is she going back to London?" John asked

"No John. Her mother has a house thanks to us her in Birmingham. Finn will spend this week getting to know his daughter. The mother, Rosa, will have the girl from Monday morning to Friday evening. Finn will have her Friday night over the weekend and drive her back to Rosa's on Monday morning. Any questions?" I finished

"Does the girl know?" Polly asked

"Yes she knows and she seem happy about the arrangements. We have found out she doesn't like her mother so one slip, and she's gone. And am asking you all to keep an eye on her. If you see her do anything to Lydia, beating or screaming at her, report it back to me and I will deal with it" everyone nodded but I could see finn getting worked up. His hands were shaking and I couldn't see his eyes because he was looking down but I knew he would be on the brink of tears

"So are we meeting her this week?" Arthur asked

"Finn is going round Rosa's house today to get to know his daughter. After that we can-" before I could finished finn stood up and ran outside. We all shared a look and John went after him.

"Do you think he can handle it all? He's still a kid" Arthur said

"He's 19. John had multiple kids by that age" I reminded

"It's not the same. John had a lovely wife to mother the children. And he had time to make mistakes. 9 months to wrap his head around things. Finns being thrown in the deep end with no warning" polly said. She was right. But I just had to hope finn would figure it out. If he didn't, he would regret it for the rest of his life.

Finn pov

Finns daughter. Finns daughter. Finns daughter. The words echoed in my head as Tommy spoke and I needed to get out of there. I ran out of the betting shop and down to the cut where I stood and cried. No one was around to stop me.

"Hey" I heard John say. He took a seat next to me ad gave me a hug

"Everything will be alright ya know" he said.

"How? I have a daughter whose mother doenst even want me around. I've missed 5 years of her life and suddenly everyone expects me to make all these decisions and be perfect-" I rambled buy John cut me off

"No one is a perfect parent. It just doesn't exist. I have alot of kids finn. Heck I was 16 when i found out I would be a dad and I was terrified. I thought I would fuck it all up. And I did. Most of it. But my kids turned out alright" he told me

"But you've had time to figure everything out and learn how to be a dad" i reminded him

"You think I know how to be a dad? Finn, yesterday I dropped my son on his head. Last week I almost burnt the house down cooking. And not even an hour ago, I made my daughter cry because i forgot about the fucking tooth fairy" he exclaimed. Even I laughed at that

"You really think I can do this?" I asked unsure

"I don't know if your gonna be a good dad. And that's the truth. But what I do know is you already love that little girl and I know you would take a bullet for her. If you can show her how much she means to you by being there for her then you can do it" he said ruffling my hair like i was a kid again. I smiled and wiped my tears away

"I'm supposed to go and see her today. What do I tell her for not being there for her?" I asked him as we both stood up

"Just tell her the truth. You didn't know she exists and you regret that. If you did then you would've been there and you promise to be with her now" he explained as if it were nothing

"You're good at this" i told him as we began to walk back

"Ye well. I've had alot of practise apologising over the years. Just wait until you have to apologise to their imaginary friends. Its a weird fucking conversation but you gotta have em" he said making me laugh. We got back to the betting shop and it was just polly there now. She ran over to me and gave me a hug

"I know you're going to see her soon. And I want to make sure you give her a hug and kiss from her aunt pol. Im proud of you for stepping up" she told me. I smiled at her and then left. I got in the car and started the engine. Time to meet my baby girl
