Chapter 21

Storming over to Thor, I struck him in the face. Before he could recover, I kneed him in the stomach so that he would bend forward. I uppercut him in the jaw, making him fall back. Thor stood up as I got ready to hit him again. Thor immediately gripped my wrists, holding them in place. "Ravenna, let me explain."

"How dare you?" I spat. I turned to the mortal, seething with rage.

"Thor, who is this?" She asked.

"I'm his fiancée!" I snapped at her. She stepped back, covering her mouth with her hands. "Did he not tell you that he was still engaged to me? Or do you not care at the fact?"

"Ravenna, leave her out of this."

I pulled my hands away from Thor. "Leave her out of this? You brought her here and you want me to leave her out of this?!"

"Let's talk somewhere privately, please."

"How private do you want to talk, Thor? As private as you were when you were kissing her or did you want to have the people gather in the Hall of Asgard? We might as well make it a grand show!"

"Ravenna, please," Thor begged, grabbing my arm. He pulled me to the side, away from the crowd of people that gathered. Thor turned around, glaring at the small crowd. "Don't you have somewhere else to be?" He exploded, making the group scatter.

"You brought her here. Why would you bring her here?"

"She's unwell, Ravenna. I couldn't just leave her to die. Heimdall couldn't see her because she found the Aether. Don't you remember? The story of the Dark Elves? The Aether is what gives the Dark Elves their powers. She found a way to it through the convergence and now, the Aether is consuming her. I must find a way to save her."

"Then, keep her in the healing room! Don't take her pleasant walks around the palace, around the city, for people to gossip! I was looking everywhere for you. Do you know how I found out where you were? Two women were talking about how you went to her last night after you left the tavern. You didn't even bother going to me to explain the situation." I covered my face, frustrated at what was happening. "I can't believe you would do this, Thor."

"How can you be this selfish?" Thor demanded.

"Selfish? Did you or did you not forget that you're engaged to me? Did she even know that she's been kissing my fiancé? Do you even care that you are doing those things?! In front of everyone, nonetheless!"

"Ravenna, I can explain."

"Then, explain! We agreed that whatever happened during your time on Earth was to be forgotten. We forgave each other, but this time, you did it out in the open for all of Asgard to see. At least it would've been less dishonorable if you did it in secret, but no you needed an audience. You embarrassed me."

"I didn't mean for you to..." Thor looked down, unable to form the words. "Ravenna, I didn't mean to hurt you this way."

"Do you love her?" I questioned him. Thor was taken aback by my question. His weight shifted from one foot to the other, his jaw tightened as he avoided eye contact with me. "Thor, do you love her?" I question him again, emphasizing each word.

Thor stared into my eyes. The pain in his face, the pity, the shame was enough of an answer for me. "I'm sorry," he muttered.

"And me? Do you still love me?" My hands shook with rage as he didn't answer. He refused to look at me. "I gave you the option to end our engagement, but you still pressed for it to continue. You wanted to try. You claimed it was because of how deeply you loved and cared for me after all these years of being together. I fought alongside you. I was there when you needed me for support every time. Every event you were a part of, every battle, I was there. I did everything I could think of to make you happy. I tried for you."
