Today was the day.
The day of Thor's glory. The day he was to become King of Asgard. Everyone in the palace wasn't in one place for too long due to the final preparations for the ceremony and feast. The handmaidens, along with Eisa, made sure every detail of my attire was perfect. I had Halle pin my hair into an elegant bun with a jeweled chain that wrapped around and in the bun. Pieces of my hair were out of the bun that was curled into a perfect spiral.
My father walked into the room, smiling at me. "Oh, my daughter, you are truly a beauty."
"Thank you, Father," I smiled back at him. "Is Thor already waiting?"
"Yes, I believe he is. Last I saw, he was asking for more wine," Father chuckled. "I have something for you. I had hoped that you would wear it today."
I walked over to my father as he opened a small box. Inside the box was beautiful diamond dangle earrings. Stunning marquise diamonds were placed in an intricate pattern that held a long slim pear-shaped diamond at the very end. "Father, it's beautiful."
"Your mother wore them on her wedding day. She spoke about how she wished to see you wear this someday. I know this isn't your wedding, but there's another piece of jewelry I wish for you to have on that special day. I figured that I would give this to you now."
"Mother wore these?" I gaped as I slipped the earrings on.
"Yes, she did." Father placed his hands on my shoulders. "You have her spirit, you know, not just her beauty. However, your wit and your fighting skills come from me."
I laughed, "Of course, it does." I hugged him. "Thank you, Father. I shall wear these with pride and honor."
"I hope this brings you comfort as you walk down that hall. Just remember every step you take while you wear those earrings, your mother will be there with you." Father patted my shoulders. "Now, you must go. The ceremony is about to begin."
I nodded at my father and headed towards the hall where I was supposed to meet Thor. The ceremony was to take place in the Hall of Asgard, which was right next to the palace. It was a large area-like room where the Asgardians went when Odin had to make an announcement or when ceremonies like knighting or coronations took place. As I walked, the first ceremonial horn filled the air, meaning the ceremony was about to begin. Thor and I had to enter together before the second horn. The second horn was to announce the presence of Odin. There was a hall just below the Hall of Asgard that we were supposed to enter. It was a dimly lit gloomy hall that had banners pinned along the wall and a fire pit at the very center. I walked in to see Thor talking to his mother.
"I hope I'm not interrupting, My Queen," I spoke as I approached them.
"Not at all, Ravenna." Frigga smiled at me. "My dear, you look absolutely beautiful. You glow as beautiful as the star skies."
"Thank you, My Queen. Though, no one could match your grace and beauty."
Frigga chuckled lightly as she touched my cheek. "Your mother would've loved to see this day. She had such a compassionate heart. Every day I look at you, I think of her."
"I wish I knew her," I said sadly, but still tried to keep a smile on my face. "I'll forever be grateful to you for being not only my mentor and my queen but also a mother when I needed it most." I reached for her hand as I spoke those words. Frigga was more of a mother to me than my stepmother.
"As I told Thor before you came in, it's alright to be nervous." She looked at Thor. "Now don't keep your father waiting."
Thor and I watched her walk away. As soon as she left the hall, Thor pulled me close to him. The moment his lips captured mine, a fill of anticipation and warmth ran through my body. My hands went to his shoulders, slightly clutching his red cape. His free hand lowered down to my backside as he pushed me closer to him until our bodies were touching.
