High School Sweethearts : BO1 : Dick Grayson

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧

"First day of school!" Renner shouted, rummaging through his closet for his uniform and bag which held everything he needed and soon, his mask. His uniform was rather... plain, for him anyways. A white button up, red tie, blue pants and a blue blazer.

He placed his runes in his pockets and slipped on his mask, leaving the room with his bag over his shoulder. He had also put on a ring that Justine gave him as a gift for getting into school, and twisted it anxiously as he walked to the school. Upon arrival in Gotham though, he had taken off his mask leaving him feeling exposed with so many people around.

He took a deep breath and walked into the school, about ten minutes early. Even at that point it was bustling with students, the size of the crowd intimidating Renner. Gotham Academy was an intimidating school in itself, but after looking over maps and yearbooks with Robin, he was fine walking in and finding his first class.

The bell rang as he walked in and he sat down, taking out his book for that class, hoping he wouldn't have to introduce himself. The teacher hardly noticed he was there and was lucky enough to not even get called on.

After a few more classes, there was a break and Renner took the chance to step outside, watching people from his place leaning against a wall. "Renner!" He jumped at the sound of his name, the voice instantly matching with a certain masked boy he knew. "Robin?" He whispered harshly at the shorter, unfamiliar kid in front of him.

"Hey! It take's a lot of courage to do this!" Robin whisper-yelled back. "My name is Dick, by the way, don't call me Robin in front of anybody here, certainly not Artemis" He instructed. "Okay, first your name is Dick? Second, Artemis goes to school here?" Renner had a hard time taking in the new information.

"Sorta and yes, now come with me?" Robin -now Dick- asked. "Gods, you are so much shorter without those boots" Renner laughed, following him.

Renner followed him to a small roofed area, noting that he had passed Artemis. "Renner, this is my friend Barbara. Barbara, this is my boyfriend, Renner" Dick claimed proudly. "R- Dick! I thought we weren't telling anyone?" Renner realized he had already run off, making him sigh. "It's nice to meet you, Barbara. Sorry about that, we only got to together a month ago, we haven't told anyone."

Barbara nodded, smiling "It's nice to meet you too, and it's okay, Dick can be like that" She laughed.

"Where did he go, though?" Renner asked looking around to find him taking a picture with Artemis. He returned quickly though, smiling brightly "Dick, what was that about?" Barbara asked at the same time as Renner. "Nothing, Barbara, just being friendly to the new girl" He explained, laughing a little.

Renner was happy when he got back to the cave. He was watching as Wally fixed up Superboy's motorcycle, talking to M'gann and Superboy about how school was going, as it had been all of their first times attending.

"I've been meaning to ask, any problems juggling school work with your responsibilities here?" Aqualad asked, Superboy replied with a simple 'no'. "Juggling is just one of my many talents" Wally spoke, "Daily cheerleading practice has presented a challenge. Oh, but my first loyalty is always to the team" M'gann explained.

"My adoptive mother, Justine, started teaching me everything the school is teaching me now a long time ago, so I'm doing fine" Renner explained. "Artemis started her first day of school today, do you think she will have any problems juggling responsibilities?" Aqualad asked.

"Not at all! I saw her today in a few classes and she was doing fine, she'll probably get by the year easily and if she has trouble, I can probably help her if she lets m-" Renner was suddenly pushed hard to the side by an explosion that rocked the mountain. Renner got up quickly but was knocked down again by a heavy weight on top of him.
