Haneun chewed on the small piece of meat while looking at the chair in front of her. The man, who introduced himself as Jung hoseok, sat there with a gentle smile as he chatted away with her uncle.

The polite smile on her uncle's face never left. Haneun didn't know if she should be impressed at how two-faced a person can be or not. Well, never mind, cause she did feel a bit amused at the antics of her cousin's family. It seems like he was nice, or at least bothered to pretend to be nice in front of others.

It's just that, he didn't bother pretending with haneun as he considered her as a mere orphan that would be soon kicked out of the family. Now, that thought, erased all the amusement haneun was feeling previously.

Haneun sipped her juice, her eyes meeting hoseok, who was sitting opposite her. He didn't immediately break the eye contact. He looked straight at her, tilting his head to a side and giving her one of those small smiles he has been giving her uncle before looking away.

However, now that his smile was directed at her, haneun couldn't help but feel something off about his smile. It wasn't enough to make her alarms go off but it did make her feel the need to keep her guards raised around the boy. He wasn't as simple as he appeared.

Everyone was halfway done with their dinner when Old Madam Lee suddenly put her cutlery down. Seeing this, everyone paused and looked in her direction. However, her eyes were fixed on haneun who paused halfway from taking a bite.

Haneun didn't avoid her gaze. Her dull eyes, void of any emotions, stared right back at Old Madam Lee. Unfazed by haneun's coldness, she smiled gently at her.

"Haneun; this old woman has poor eyesight, my dear. Why are you sitting so far? Come on here; sit next to your brother." Old Madam Lee nodded her head towards the empty seat beside Jinyoung. Jinyoung's head snapped in her direction. The memory of their small fight was still fresh in his mind. He couldn't help but avoid haneun's eyes when she looked back at him.

After their fight, he went outside to think about his actions. Haneun was just a child after all. She wouldn't have been like that if not for what she has gone through. He was being a bit pushy towards Haneun and that truth can never be changed. He realized that it was his selfishness of wanting haneun to stay forcefully that made haneun hate him.

He thought that it still wasn't too late for things to be changed but after today, it seems like things are damaged beyond repair.

Haneun gave her grandmother a long look before getting up and taking a seat beside Jinyoung. None of them spoke a word to each other, as if not aware of each other's presence.

Haneun could feel that Jinyoung was feeling uncomfortable by how stiff his shoulders became when she sat beside him. She took a clear guess that it was because of their fight earlier.

Jinyoung's unusual behavior didn't go unnoticed by Mr. Lee. He too, cast a glance towards Haneun, which was successfully ignored by her.

The corner of Old Madam Lee's lips lifted a bit into a smile before it vanished. The three of them had a blank expressions plastered on their faces when they looked at her.

"Ahh, much better." Old Madam Lee nodded her head before looking at their unexpected guest.

"Your visit today was unexpected, in a good way, of course. However, I don't think I saw you at the party today." Old Madam Lee spoke lightly however the meaning behind her words was obvious. She just meant to ask the reason behind his sudden arrival without sounding rude.
