Mr Schue walked into the choir room with a smile at the faces staring back at him, "okay guys who can tell me what a duet is?" He asks pleasantly.
"A blanket," was Brittany's immediate response, and Sam nodded in agreement "close. So close bubbles," Holden said and pointed back to Mr Schue as he took over the explanation of what exactly a duet is.
"This week the assignment is duets," Mr Schue said, "you can pick your partners yourself. And I'm going to be making it a competition, whoever wins will get dinner for two on me, at Breadstix" he announced.
The club erupted in cheers for this, Breadstix was a staple of Lima and one of the best places to eat and everyone would be very happy to win a free meal for two there.
Holden was dancing around the living room holding Asher to her chest as she did so, when Quinn and Rachel walked into the house. They shared smiles, before heading up to Quinn's room to practice for their duet and Holden was none the wiser.
As she continued to dance with her son, Mason and a few of their friends arrived at the house. Him having grown to think of the Ray house as his own, and both Charlie and Elara being very vocal in stating to the seventeen year old that this is his home, and he can invite people over as he wants.
The group of boys stopped in the doorway and let smiles overtake their features at how carefree Holden was, Asher spotted his dad and laughed loudly which caught Holden's attention as her son was wriggling and pointing behind her.
She knew that meant Mason was home and turned, and the boy quickly made his way over and took his son into his arms and bounced him happily. "Is that daddy?" Holden says towards Asher. "How was your practice?" She asks interested as all the group made their way into the living room and collapsed onto the couches.
"Tiring, Beiste is great and everything but she is very particular" Matt answers and Holden nodded at that, "do you guys want any snacks or something to drink?" She asks as she made her way into the kitchen with Mike following, to help her.
"Chips please Holly," Matt answers and the blonde nodded grabbing a few bags of chips and some bowls.
"You okay Mikey?" Holden asks curiously, as the boy gets out a couple cans of coke and a few gatorades. "I was wondering if you had a duet partner for Glee yet?" He asks and Holden thought about it for a moment.
"Not at the moment," she says and Mike smiles, "do you maybe want to do a duet with me?" He asks and Holden beams at him.
"Of course," she nodded and Mike smiled, "any ideas on a song?" She asks curiously. "Eh, I want a song that can show I can actually sing. I may not be the best at it, but I'm better than I think the club know" Mike says shyly and Holden smiles softly at him.
She knew about Mike's confidence issues, she knew he was a decent singer and she knew he didn't really show everyone that. She knew, as did a few others but he didn't show it to everyone.
"I have an idea of a song, but help me with these first" she instructed and Mike mock saluted and helped her carry the things through.
Holden sat next to Mike and smiled at the group and laughed softly at the sight of Matt playing with Asher, "so who's doing what for the glee assignment?" She asks interested.
"I'm doing a duet with Penelope," Finn says with a slight blush and Holden smirks, she saw that the pair held a attraction to one another. "I'm doing 'All I have' with Britt as a laugh," Matt put in.
"As a laugh?" Finn asks interested, "yeah. Britt knows I'm gay and well she's always been there for me with it. So we just decided to do this together," Matt admits and Holden beams with pride at how casual Matt was with that admitted truth.
"Cool," Puck says and Holden smiles that none of the boys are being weird about it, "I'm doing a song with Artie. He's a decent kid, and if we win I'm giving him the prize to use with whoever he wants" Noah says and Holden nods smiling at the boy she sees as a brother who held his daughter in his arms.
"I'm performing with Kurt, he's got a good voice and has a good idea for it" Sam says and Holden nods. She knew that Sam was pansexual, he'd opened up to her about it immediately and knew he didn't like Kurt in that way but he clearly valued Kurt and wanted a friendship with him.
"What about everyone else, you have any idea on the other pairs?" Mason asks interested and Holden nods, "Q and Rache are doing something together, Cedes and Tana, Tina and River, um Lillie and Tamzin and then Adrien and Niall."
"So you two will be singing together?" Finn asks as he points between Mike and Holden, the pair nodding.
As the week progresses the duets kept coming and the week finished with Mike and Holden singing 'Just Give Me A Reason', the votes were very close and in the end it was Tina and River who won with their duet of 'Islands In The Stream' which was just feel good. Though Holden voted for Quinn and Rachel who did 'Can't Remember to Forget You'.
note, okay so I have an idea on some of the ships I will be writing in this book. I'll place them below and comment if you like the idea of them, or want any changes- though I have some of these set in stone and I won't budge on.

kurt and blaine briefly but kurt will end up with adrien

those with 's-' are set in stone and are definitely going to happen in this book, I was thinking of exploring Finn as bisexual but I'm not sure. And those that are set, will have build up and subtle interactions to show the development.
