"Alright guys, I have one word for you" Mr Schue explains as he turns from the board, "Brittany" he points to the blonde.
"Is it love?" she questions, "I'm totally going to graduate now" she finishes excitedly, Holden smiled softly at the blonde and smirked towards Santana when she saw the Latina dazing lovingly at Brittany.
"Valentine's Day is comin' up, so for this weeks lesson I want you guys to pick a partner because you're gonna sing to them what you think is the world's greatest love song." Mr Schue said.
Holden looked around the choir room and let a smile grace her features, she could see who would be pairing up immediately. River and Tina immediately shared soft smiles as did Finn and Penelope, Tamzin and Lillie, Santana and Brittany, and Holden picked up on the looks between Quinn, Rachel and Noah.
She knew everybody wasn't in a relationship like; Artie, Mercedes, Adrien, Sam, Niall and she also knew Matt would get Mason into the choir room in some way or sing the song to him personally.
The blonde girl however did find her gaze falling onto Mike who was already looking directly at her, and even when their eyes locked neither looked away.
Mr Schue's rambling caught Holden's attention once more, "so pick a song that communicates all the things love means to you. So go on, partner up."
As partners broke out, Holden saw Finn step up to say something to begin with "can I also just point out, that these songs this week are going to be very personal so if you feel more comfortable performing them without all of us as an audience no one will care.
Valentines is also not just about the love between partners, and if you want to sing a song for someone you care go ahead. Family, friends there is no need to sing love songs just sing something that means something to you." He said and everyone sent Finn grateful smiles.
"You are a good person Finn," Santana said echoing everyone's thoughts and Holden couldn't help but smile at her friend. She had truly come to accept herself and sexuality recently and has even come out to her parents, Holden knew she hadn't told her Abuela and the blonde sympathised with Santana.
Her parents had always been so accepting, and she knew that came from them not having acceptance from their parents and it's the reason she hasn't ever had any contact with her grandparents on either side.
They could not accept her when her mom fell pregnant, and they've all tried to get a relationship since Holden had gotten older but the blue eyed blonde didn't want one, if they couldn't accept her when she was born and when her parents first found out about her she didn't care to know them now.
As Finn sat back down Holden found her attention straying to the tall Asian that had fully captured her heart despite doing it unknowingly. She knew who she wanted to do the assignment with, wether she'd gain the confidence to actually do it she had no idea.
The night before Kurt's 'Lonely Hearts Club' event Holden finally grew restless of the rollercoaster of emotions going around her head, as she collapsed onto her dad who was sat on the couch she let go of a deep sigh.
"What's wrong honey?" Charlie asks, getting flashbacks to the day the same thing practically happened a day or two before Holden did the pregnancy tests.
Holden looked up to her dad, "how did you and mom get together?" She asks avoiding answering her dads question.
"She kissed me and told me that I wouldn't get anyone better, and I agreed with that assessment" Charlie says unhelpfully, "after that it was never discussed really. I knew she was it for me, and she knew I was it for her. Why?"
"I like somebody," Holden says, "I think they like me too. But I don't know how to approach the conversation with him," she admits.
"Mike?" Charlie asks, and Holden nods. "I have a feeling everything will work itself out honey, now go get into the outfit mummy has put on your bed. We are doing a daddy-daughter date, we haven't been on one for awhile" he instructs.
"Is Quinn coming too?"
Charlie shook his head, "no sweetheart. I love Quinn, and she is my daughter but you are my biological daughter; and since Asher and everything that has happened in the past year I see that I've been in a way neglecting our relationship. We used to go on monthly daddy-daughter dates, and I can't actually remember the last time we had one. It's time I fix that," he explained.
Holden nodded, she loved how her family has fully expanded in the past year and she would never change that but since the relationship between her and her parents has changed. It used to be just the three of them, and Mason occasionally but now it was the three of them, Quinn, Mason and then Asher and Beth.
As Holden got into her room she was met with both Quinn and Rachel, "let's get you even prettier than usual" Rachel said pulling her best friend into the room.
"Shower, then I'll be doing your makeup while Rache does your hair" her sister instructed her and Holden does so.
After Holden had finished Rachel blow dried her hair, and curled the blonde hair as Quinn did a very light makeup look with pale pink eye makeup with a wing liner. Before the two girls helped Holden zip up her sage silk mid thigh length dress, and Quinn clipped on Holden's Vivienne Westwood pearl necklace as Holden slipped on her plain black red bottoms.
Walking downstairs Holden was met with her dad in a suit, and she smiled at the sight he always made the daddy-daughter dates special and this one seemed like no different.
She spotted Matt on the couch with Mason both looked up from Asher when they heard her and quickly made loud noises of approval before Holden made her way into the room to kiss her sons head before heading back to the door after taking the small bag her mom extended towards her after a hug.
Charlie drove towards a nice Italian restaurant on the outskirts of Lima, where they were quickly seated at a private table away from most.
The duo remained at the restaurant for nearly two hours, but Charlie wouldn't let Holden get a dessert giving cryptic answers on why she wasn't allowed any that the blonde ended up giving up on trying to figure it out.
After the bill was payed the two made their way back to the car and Holden quickly noticed that they were not on route to the Ray home, but decided against bringing it up.
As Charlie parked up next to a car she recognised as Mike's she sent her dad a confused look but dutifully got out of her dads car and made her way towards Mike who was stood with a bouquet of peonies and who was also smartly dressed.
"What's going on?" Holden asks breathlessly as she took the large bouquet, "Mike?"
"Holden I have never found myself so captivated by someone. And I don't want to wake up one day and regret not trying, I've had so much fear in thinking about doing this because I could never handle not having you as a part of my life but I am not going to let that fear prevent what I know will be the best thing to ever happen to me. Holden I love your son, and I love you. I have loved you for so long and I know you love me too, I see that you love me as much as I love you. So, I'm asking you to be mine as much as I am yours?"
Holden wiped the stray tear that rolled down her cheek and stepped forward nodding "I've always been yours" she whispered before their lips connected.
They didn't need anything more. From that moment on Holden and Mike's lives were connected. It always was going to be Holden and Mike. Their destiny was written from the start.
