Rumours Sucked.

It was a simple matter of life, rumours were literal hell.

When Holden first saw the positive pregnancy test, one of her first thoughts was what everybody would say.

What rumours would be made up about her baby, and herself as well as Mason. And she hated that her mind went there, she was sixteen and found out she was pregnant- and her first thought practically was what would everyone around her say, and she knew Quinn faced the same issue.

However, Quinn definitely had more of a reason to worry about what rumours would spread. She was keeping her pregnancy quiet, and held out hope she would be capable of hiding it. After Holden found out, she wanted it quiet for the first few weeks when there was a higher chance something would happen but after that she didn't really try to hide it.

But now that Holden's relationship with Mike was out to the school, or people finally realised the two were dating she despised rumours even more than she ever did. The pair never hid their relationship, Holden spent so much time with Mike and Mike's family she was practically a part of the family and the same vice versa.

Though the students of McKinley were really stupid to not have realised the pair were dating. But now they had, rumours began. From Holden dating Mike to guarantee her son a secure future, to Holden dating Mike because she loved Mason and wanted to make him jealous and Mike wanted to make Matt jealous.

The rumours ranged from laughable, to disgusting.

And Holden wasn't coping well with people saying she was dating Mike because he was the only one sad enough to date a teen mom.

That Mike pitied her, and that's why he was with her.

She hated that rumour the most.

Julia Chang pried herself on being a smart woman, so when her son mentioned the awful things people were saying about the girl her son was in love with. Because he was in love, she could tell call it mother's intuition.

The girl she saw as a daughter, and who had given her the gift of her first grandson (DNA be damned). She knew how much it would be affecting the sweet blonde.

Knowing how much hearing those things would affect anyone, she made sure to whisk her daughter(-in-law) away for a girls day. Julia arranged it when she knew Asher was having a day with his dads and when Holden was definitely free.

They travelled from Lima to Columbus, and spent the day drifting between the shops, getting their nails done and spending time together.

As the pair sat across from each other in the restaurant Holden allowed the tensions from the previous week melt away.

"Thank you Holden,"

"For what?" The blonde asks perplexed, not knowing why Julia was thanking her.

Julia took a moment to consider her words, "thank you for making my son happy. Thank you for choosing to love my son. I always knew there was something he never told me and my husband, and since you've come into his life more permanently his lacking in confidence has gone. He sat me and my husband down, and told us he wanted to be a dancer. He told us that he was proud of us for achieving so much, for making such a successful life but that he didn't want to be a doctor or a lawyer. That he wanted to dance, on stage, behind the scenes or otherwise. He was utterly open with us, and we see that it's what he is meant to do.

Thank you for making my son believe in himself, just thank you Holden for being a part of my sons life and becoming a part of my life. He loves you so much, and I've never been worried about my sons heart in your hands because you love him so deeply that it is beautiful to see."

Holden didn't try to hide the tears, and she smiled softly "thank you for raising someone so easy to love. I was always so scared after Ash that I would never find someone who could accept him, or Mason in my life in the way he is. But with your son, I was never scared it was easy to fall in love with him. And that's down to both you and your husband for raising such an amazing son. Thank you for letting me love your son despite everything, most parents wouldn't accept their child's partner to have a child."

"Your sons lucky to have you as a mother, and my sons lucky to have you as a partner" Julia replies instantly. "I won't deny that I wasn't apprehensive, but meeting you and then Asher I just knew you were it for Michael. And I knew that I'd treat you as my own," she adds. "Your part of my family, both of you."

Holden smiled brightly, "and you are a part of my family. It's ever expanding," She replies with a soft laugh that Julia returns.

And yes, rumours sucked but Holden wasn't going to let them bother her anymore. Not when she had such amazing people in her life to help her through them.
