HER
I was excited to see the beach. Since I took over the company a few months ago, I've buried myself at work and this will be the first time I will unwind. I can't wait to feel the fine sand and the rush of water under my feet.
I looked around for Brie. I thought she was behind me. I saw her on the phone smiling; I'm sure she's talking to little Bailey. Her mom will take care of Bailey over the weekend that's why Brie was able to come. I waved my hand at her and motioned for her to just follow me.
I went ahead and walked towards the shore. We arrived early and the beautiful morning sun is shining brightly on me.
"Hey, sorry about that. I promised Bailey I'll call her once we get here." She apologized.
"Don't be. You can check on her whenever you want. Is she doing okay?" I asked, smiling.
"She's busy playing with the new kitchen set you gave her. She hasn't even opened the other gift you bought yesterday. You are spoiling her!" I grinned at her. Bailey is so cute. I like to see her eyes twinkle every time I give her a present.
"By the way, did you see there's a net set up near the pavilion? Let's play beach volleyball later!" Brie said excitedly.
I chuckled. "Remembering the old days, huh! Sure, I missed playing, too. Did you still play when I left?"
"No, after the championship, that was it. In our previous company, we had a one time sports event, that's the only time I was able to play. Do you think you can still do your spike moves?" She teased.
"You bet! I can still do aces! I'll show you later. Whoever wins...."
She cut me off and said, "Will buy the drinks! Girl, we have a lot of booze in the car, I don't have to buy you anymore." Both of us laughed at her comment.
She remembered those days when we're saving money and trying to avoid paying for the drinks. We have come a long way. I couldn't imagine we'll be where we are right now.
We sat down near the shore and enjoyed the morning sun while watching a group of teenagers having fun while riding a banana boat.
"So, what's going on with you and Luke?" Brie suddenly asked and winked at me. I could tell she's in her teasing mode.
"What you see is what you get!" I shot back at her with a mysterious smile.
"You've been going out a lot lately. Finally, you're giving him a chance. I'm glad you're now open to that possibility." She replied.
"I'm enjoying his company. He already invited me to go out of town next week. Just the two of us. And I already said yes." I smiled at her.
"Wow, you're taking it to the next level, girl! I'm so happy for you! Finally, you found somebody to replace your college crush." She teased me and I frowned at her.
"I don't want to talk about him. Don't put me in a bad mood!" I said annoyed. I'm still mad at Paul's arrogant behavior in the bar. How dare he call me a liar and a flirt. I've had enough of him.
"Okay, girlfriend! Let's put you back on a happy mode! Let's change and have fun! This is the first time I've been to the beach since I had Bailey!" Brie said excitedly.
I grinned at her reaction. She didn't want to waste any time. We went to our cozy cottage and changed into our swimwear. I changed to my two-piece black swimsuit while Brie wore a cute floral swimsuit. As soon as we stepped out, we ran straight to the beach. We rode the jet ski and did the paddle board; I never had this kind of fun for a long time. I missed my best friend and I'm glad we're together again.
