CHAPTER THIRTY

AFTER THE uncomfortable but fun lunch with Anurak, the man excused himself because of another business meeting he had to attend. Medyo nanghinayang tuloy si Wor dahil hindi naman sila nag-usap buong tanghalian.

Ilang saglit lang ay naramdaman niyang nag-vibrate ang phone niya. Nakabili na siya ng bago at mas maayos na phone pero iyon pa rin ang sim card na gamit niya. Kaya naman kilalang-kilala niya ang nag-text sa kanya.

Meet me at Wynter's Cafe near the bridge at four PM.

Napahinga nang malalim si Worachet bago kinumpirmang pupunta siya. It has been years since I've seen Narae.

Inayos ni Worachet ang sarili saka umidlip muna sa condo unit na tinutuluyan niya sa syudad tuwing may trabaho siya. Nang magising ay naligo na siya saka nag-ayos para sa pagkikita nila ni Narae.

Hindi maiwasan ni Wor na pumasok sa isip ang nangyari noong huling nag-usap silang dalawa. Is she mad at me? Ang tanong na paulit-ulit naglalaro sa isipan niya.

Pagkatapos ng ilang minuto ay pinark na ni Worachet ang kotse sa parking lot ng cafe. Pagkapasok na pagkapasok niya pa lang ay nakita na niya kung nasaan ang dalaga.

Her looks became more mature, and her body became sexier. Another thing to notice is that she has light blue hair.

Malayo ang tingin ng dalaga ngunit nang lumingon ito ay saktong nagtama ang paningin nila. And Worachet swear he felt nothing but coldness under her stares.

Naglakad siya papalapit dito saka tumigil sa tapat ng babae. "You wanted to see me?" simpleng tanong niya.

Iminuwestra ng babae ang kamay sa upuan. "Sit."

He quickly obeyed and cleared his throat before opening the conversation. "Umm... How are you—"

"What do you want with Anurak?" She cut him off with a cold question. "I learned of your meeting with him earlier today through his secretary. And even if this is a professional talk where I have no say, I want to inform you to leave my cousin alone." Her eyes were sharp. "Go on, work as their architect. But your role stays the same. You are nothing but an architect working on a project under his company. Nothing more, Mr. Khankham."

Para namang nanliit si Worachet sa mga pinagsasasabi ng babae. He felt her anger toward him and he knew he deserved it. Narae's words were meant to make him stop his initial plan of him and Anurak getting back together, but he didn't want to back down. He never plans to back down. "Narae—"

"You don't get to call me by my first name, Mister. Because as far as I know, you don't have the right. You're no longer part of my life. And even in my cousin's life," nangunguyam na sabi nito sa kanya.

Huminga nang malalim si Worachet. Nasasaktan siya pero alam niyang may karapatan ang babaeng pagsalitaan siya ng ganoon. "Ms. Lee..."

Saglit na nanlaki ang mga mata ng babae nang makita siyang dahan-dahang lumuluhod sa lapag ng cafe. Naririnig niya ang iilang bulungan ng mga tao roon pero wala nang pakealam si Worachet.

"I am asking for forgiveness. I know you're mad at me for what I have done. But I had my reasons. I believed that I was only a burden to Anurak during those times, that's why I had to leave him even if it breaks my heart." He kept his eyes staring straight into hers. "But I left to build myself. I left for him. Because I want to grow without causing him any trouble. I love Anurak, Narae. I love him, and I'm still hoping that he loves me too—"

"You're not worthy of his affection, Worachet. You became a coward. He was there fighting for the both of you and yet, you chose to leave him alone. You were a coward. You don't deserve my brother," walang pusong sinabi ng babae sa kanya. Halatang wala itong pakealam kung masaktan siya, at naiintindihan iyon ni Worachet.

Narae was doing her all to protect her cousin. And that included kneeling in front of Worachet to beg him not to leave her cousin before.

Kaya naman ginawa rin ni Wor ang pagluhod sa harap nito. This is him pointing out and begging for her forgiveness.

"I know, Narae. That's why I'm willing to start over. I'll do my best to find my way to his heart. To gain the worth of having his affection. I'll do everything and anything to win him back. But before I completely ask for his forgiveness and heart, I have to regain the trust that you gave me, which I lost because of my decision."

Wala nang pakealam si Worachet sa paligid. Kahit na ang iba ay masyadong halatang chismosa sa nagaganap sa kanilang dalawa. And Worachet... he did not cut his eye contact with the woman. He believes that he needs her to know that he's sincere.

"Please, Narae... One chance. One chance to prove my worth. One chance for me to make him realize that I missed him so much. That I love him so much." He pulled out a box from his pocket. "You are his little sister, your say matters to me as much as his parents' words. I want you to know how much I want Anurak to be with me until my last breath. This..." He motioned to the box. "I bought it after graduating. It's not an expensive and shiny ring, but this serves as my heart. And I want to offer it to him. From then 'til now, it has always been him, Narae. So, please... I beg you... give me one chance, trust me one more time, and hand me your blessing to marry your brother."

Tinitigan muna siya ni Narae ng ilang minuto bago walang imik na tumayo saka iniwan siya sa cafe. Worachet's shoulders fell, and he somehow lost part of his hope, but he shrugged it off, believing that all he had to do was work hard and show Narae and Anurak his sincerity.

Parang wala lang na tumayo si Worachet saka pinagpagan ang pantalon bago umorder ng kape. He was deep in his thoughts when his phone vibrated.

One chance.

Hindi napigilan ni Worachet na mapangiti sa nabasang mensahe mula kay Narae. One chance. That's all I need. Masayang uminom si Worachet at dala niya ang ngiting iyon hanggang sa makauwi sa condo.

WEEKS AFTER the talk between him and Narae, Worachet began to execute his plan to woo Anurak. Hindi naman kasi tumatanggi ang lalake tuwing aayain niya itong lumabas o kumain.

Worachet was happy knowing that he got to spend time with the man he loves, but he most of the time ended the day with a frown or heavy shoulders.

Tuwing magpapasalamat kasi siya kay Anurak sa pag-anyaya ng imbitasyon niyang date at ikakatwiran nitong ayon iyon sa deal na pinag-usapan. Pakiramdam tuloy ni Worachet ay napipilitan lamang ang lalake.

Nakabisita na rin siya ng LUST DAWN matapos makasalubong si Wynter sa isang mall at niyaya siya nito sa club. As expected, Narae's cold stares welcomed him and Anurak's face has no visible emotion. Kinakausap naman siya nila Wynter at Dominique but he could also feel the line that he cannot step unlike before.

Days went on, and Worachet was supposed to back down, but instead of doing so, he did something unexpected and the same time, kind of st*pid on his end.

Before one of their private dinner date ended, Worachet got down on one knee and asked Anurak to marry him.
