Chapter 10: Mate
Everything was a mess when I left that building. Guards were roaming around, searching for the immortal who caused the emergency alarm—none other than Amara Ruthven. All the high officials were in a panic. It seems my necklace is also important to them? Like, what the heck? They have no right to steal my sole keepsake from my grandmothers, which is none other than the necklace. Also, our history book. My grandmommies made that necklace for me, and my father said our history is my own advantage. The question is, what is in it?
I immediately teleported back to our condo—my own room—when I confirmed that everything was in chaos. I didn't care if they were causing a commotion there. As long as my necklace and book were in a safe place, I was okay.
I stared at the white ceiling, reminiscing about what happened yesterday. I heard a knock, so I decided to open my door.
Opening my door, I stared at my feet, ignoring the person who knocked. "Yes?" I lazily answered.
"Lunchtime na, Amara." Umangat ako ng tingin nang malaman na si Syren ito. She smiled widely when she noticed me looking at her. "Let's go!" Without waiting for my response, she pulled me out of the room.
"Yay! Amara is here! And we are ready to kain na!" Syren cheerfully announced, pulling me into a seat before taking her own. I sat down and looked around.
Astro had cooked our lunch. After he finished arranging the dishes on the table, he took his own seat. I was about to eat when I noticed someone was missing.
Where's Draven?
I wanted to ask them about him, but at the same time, I didn't. I sighed and started eating. I returned to check if the table was dirty, but luckily, it was clean.
"Where did you go yesterday, Amara?" Astro asked.
"Why?" Tumaas ang kilay ko pero sumagot din. "I roamed around. That's my habit. Kung nasa Earth pa ako, sure akong nalibot ko na ang mundo ng mga tao."
I whispered my last sentence because it would sound arrogant if I said it loudly. It would be embarrassing in front of these two. I'm not arrogant. It's Draven who's arrogant in our team.
Napatawa ako ng mahina sa aking naisip. Astro coughed, and my laughter subsided. Syren was looking at us with a smirk on her face.
I glared at Syren, but her smirk widened.
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes and walked out. I entered my room and locked the door.
What a tiring morning. I'm going to sleep before heading to the library. That's been my plan for the whole weekend. I'll spend my two days at the library. This condo is so boring compared to that.
I woke up around two in the afternoon. I went out after preparing myself to go to the library. I got into my car and started driving. When I arrived there, I immediately went inside. I let myself wander among the bookshelves.
I shrugged and randomly grabbed a book. I just wanted to read some books, regardless of whether they would interest me or not.
I returned to my usual table and sat down. I started flipping through the pages and let myself get lost in my reading.
