"IN THE EYES OF THE PREDATOR"

"WHY ARE YOU—" *slash* The body of the adult male drops on the floor and blood begins spewing out of the wound made by Lisa's handy naginata. She stares blankly at the man on the floor as she places her weapon on her shoulder. "Another target eliminated, time to get out of here before someone sees me,"

Without a moment to spare, she runs across the room and jumps out the open window. Fortunately, Lisa doesn't have to worry about leaving any evidence of her presence behind because her agency always makes sure to let them cover up from head to toe to avoid any anomalies on their assassin's missions.

On this mission, Lisa styled her hair in a high ponytail and tied it thoroughly with a black silk ribbon. She wore a black colored short sleeved top with an armor plate underneath it and covered her upper body with a black military chest rig and a black colored jacket. Her arms were fully covered with long black leather gloves. For her lower body, she used a black cargo pants and black heeled boots.

To complete her look and to conceal her identity, she wore a long black satin piece of fabric and folded it and used it as a mask.

Jumping, running, and sneaking around the night on the roofs of people's houses was Lisa's bread and butter. For today's mission, she was assigned to an execution in a small town on the city outskirts so she could easily move without worrying about potential witnesses, otherwise...you know what'll happen. "Gosh, killing my targets is enough, I don't wanna add more people on the expressway to heaven...or hell."

After running on a series of houses in stealth mode, she hopped down into a dark ally making sure that the coast is clear. Lisa took a deep breath and slowly sat down on the ground while leaning back on the hard wall, panting as she held her naginata in her arms, she brought out a clean cloth and rubbed it on the blade of her polearm to remove the dark red bloodstain that already dried up during her quick parkour session.

"Damn it, I should put in a request for a stainless one. This is gonna take me fucking forever to clean up." Lisa gritted her teeth in frustration as she tried her best in cleaning the blade on her polearm, in the end, the bloodstain was still visible on the blade so for now she could only put on the cover to avoid stares from the town's people.

Lisa rested in that dark alley for who knows how long. She took deep breaths to control herself from losing her sanity as dozens of burdening memories flooded her mind, including the scene of her killing the man on her hit list today that was still fresh in her mind.

Life as an assassin was tantamount to working as a soldier during the war, traumatizing. The screams and cries of her victims became her very own alarm in the morning, all of it was vivid in her ears that even sleep became arduous for her.

In her line of work, there were no "good" or "bad" people, if her superiors asked her to kill them, she must kill them, it's the assassin's creed after all.

After hours of resting, she realized that it was already early in the morning passed midnight. It was time for her to call it a day, she stood up and quietly began walking towards the exit of the alley, and just as she was about to come out, she saw a family that was still awake.

Lisa peeked from the alley and watched the family have a midnight snack at an open café which was surprising for her. "Why are they eating at this time of night? A huge amount of food at that..."

Lisa was astonished to see the family eat as they please, the mouth-watering food made her curious that she didn't even realize that she was already walking toward the family's table.

To their shock, they stared at Lisa who was also staring back at the food on their table. "Can we help you?" The mother asked. Hearing her speak made Lisa surprised, she was lost in thought when she laid eyes on the food set out on their table.

Once she was already back in her senses, she felt flustered and quickly shook her head and began running off away from the café where the stupefied family watched her disappear into the streets.

To simply explain Lisa's action, ever since she was brought into the organization, she was stripped of all the norms of a human being. Wearing clothes she liked, eating whatever food she wanted, pursuing her passion, etc. was considered an anomaly for assassins like her. Everything they do is already decided by her superiors and she has no choice but to follow.

"I wonder, what does it feel like to do what they wanted? Why weren't they scolded? How come they didn't look so muscular?"

"Why do I seem different from them?"

All of that became a mystery for Lisa to solve on her own, she felt hungry for answers to her questions but she couldn't just walk in and ask her superiors, or else she will get in big trouble.

She already went through countless punishments for questioning those who are above her, asking questions was suicide for them. The pain of going through all that was something Lisa never wanted to experience once more so she wanted to get away from them as much as she could.

"You are an assassin, you live to become one and you die as one. You are above the people living on this earth but you are never above those who are above you."

"But...what does it feel like to be those people?"
