"HER AGAINST THE WORLD"
I WANTED TO pass out, i felt like i was gonna fall to the floor. My vision was starting to act up and all i could see was static, but i only heard Lisa's words "Jennie? Are you okay—" after that, i blacked out.
I remember it like it was yesterday, every step i made, every word i muttered under my breath, every place i touched. It was all clear like a video playing over and over again in my mind, i will never forget it. The fact that i even have a scar on my forehead to remember it, made me think that the gods wanted me to remember the very day i lost my parents.
On a night of january 16, i was walking home from the bus station. My parents had multiple properties, i had my school inside Paris so they decided to use our contemporary home in a private and heavily secured neighborhood.
The front gate of my village was pretty big and grand, it had 2 huge arch ways colored in light gray and camel while the spread out walls with electrical fences were colored in sand, it had the two gates opening from the middle to let cars of all sizes come through without a hitch, buses and trucks of course are strictly prohibited since they'd cause a huge disturbance.
I greeted the 5 security guards that were posted on the front gate, everyone in the neighborhood practically knew each other well so there weren't much awkwardness happening except for the beginning. Once i went in and out a couple of times instead of going to work by car, i already had memorized their faces and names.
"Good evening, lady Kim!" They all greeted in unison. I gave them a bow and cheery smile before replying "good evening as well! Have a good night you guys!"
They all waved good bye and i began walking to our house that was a block far from the gate so it wasn't too far, our neighborhood was very peaceful that i could just walk around any time i wanted to. All you'd hear is chill music coming from some of the houses and the loud up beat music were always muffled in the homes since it came with the village's rules and regulations.
I saw a few of our neighbors lounging in their front yards, some were giving their cars a wash while others gave their plants a wash, it was pretty same old same old but it wasn't boring.
When i reached the corner of the street and made a turn where I'm finally at my house, i saw a person wearing very baggy clothes and had some huge stick hanging on their back. When i got closer i saw that they were actually a girl, what made me surprised was that she was bleeding all over on our street that the blood dried quickly on our pavement.
I knew how to perform first aid so i quickly shouted but not too loud to cause a scene. "Hey! You're hurt! Let me help you!"
As i began approaching the girl, she finally turned to notice me but then quickly turned around again to run away into the far streets of my village to the point that i lost her before i could even run after her.
"W-wait! Aw...gosh." I scrunched my nose when i saw how much blood had gotten on the smooth stone pavement in front of my house, i had to tell dad so he could call the home cleaners at the village hall.
I wonder what happened.
When i reached my door, i took out my keys from the front pocket of my bag and slid it in the key hole, but before i could even turn the knob, the door already open.
I frowned at it and felt annoyed because my parents have very unhealthy and dangerous habits. Did mom and dad forget to lock it again?
