Telling Hank

"We have to tell him," Hope said.

They were sitting in the car and deciding what to do. "If we don't tell him now, he'll find out from someone else, and then he'll kill you. At least if we tell him now, he might not be as mad." She said optimistically.

"You realize he'll kill me either way, right? Not only did I not ask him if I could marry you, but he doesn't even know we're together! Best case scenario, he'll let me say goodbye to you and Cassie before he kills me."

Hope gave him a look as if to say, "Really?"

"I'm just being realistic." He said, putting his hands up in surrender.

They drove to Hank's house and talked the whole way there about who should say what and how not to get killed. When they pulled up, Hope came to a decision. "Stay in the car. I'll tell him."

"Are you sure?" He asked, his face filled with relief, with a hint of concern. He knew how Hank could be.

"If you think it would be too much, I can come with you." He offered.

"You're the one who he's gonna be angry with. You should probably stay at a safe distance." She said and got out of the car.

"Good luck."

"I don't think luck will save us from a furious Hank Pym." She said and then walked up to the door. She took a deep breath and then rang the doorbell. A few seconds later, Hank opened the door. "Hope! What are you doing here?" He asked in surprise.

Scott watched as he invited her inside. She went in, and Scott got out of the car. He stood in front of the door so that he could hear their conversation. Meanwhile, Hope and Hank were just on the other side of the door.

"So what brings you here? It's after 10:00," Hank asked.

"I know it's late. But I have something to tell you, and you might not like it." She said, playing with her ring behind her back.

"Okay?"

She brought her hands out from behind her back and then he saw it.

"Congratulations, Hope! Who's the guy?" He asked, hugging her, not at all aware of who she was engaged to.

"I expect it's someone you met over the past two years." He said. "Um, not exactly. I've known him a bit longer than that. You actually know him." She said, gradually giving him hints.

Hank's face slowly went from happy, to firm and angry. "It's him, isn't it?" He asked, silently fuming.

"That depends on who you think he is." She answered carefully.

"It's Scott. I know it is. He asked you and you said yes. Great! My daughter's engaged to a criminal!" He said, pacing back and forth.

"He's not a criminal! Dad, you know that he isn't. The only reason he went to prison the first time was because he tried to do the right thing!"

"And what about the second time?" He asked.

"Not this again! He was framed! He told us that, and for some reason, you still don't believe him. What is your problem with Scott?" She asked.

"He's a criminal. He broke into our house. He did something so stupid that he was put on house arrest for almost two years. And let's not forget to mention how he stood by while Michael attacked you, and then left for four days resulting in your coma. Need I go on?" He asked, his voice raised.

"First of all, you wanted him to break into the house. Second, he did nothing wrong! He was framed as I told you before. And he did not just stand by when Michael attacked. He saved me, multiple times. He told me to run, to get away, but I stayed. It was my choice! And as for my coma, he was kidnapped! He was taken away, against his will! And since then, he hasn't stopped apologizing for what happened, even though none of it was his fault. He has spent every day beating himself up about it. I never blamed him, for any of it, because it was not his fault!" She said, also raising her voice.

"Stay away from him. He's not good enough for you. He never was and he never will be. He'll end up breaking your heart all over again." He said coldly.

"Scott is more than good enough for me. He is one of the most selfless people I ever met. He's no criminal. A criminal wouldn't try to sacrifice himself to save me. Did I mention more than once? I don't know what your problem is, but I honestly don't care anymore. If you keep this up, if you want Scott gone, your daughter will be gone too. Think about that, Hank." She said, her words like daggers.

She walked towards the door and Scott ran back to the car. She walked out of the house and to the car. She opened the car door and got in. "Hope, are you okay?" He asked, noticing the tears in her eyes.

"I'm fine and don't worry. If Hank tries to do anything, he knows the consequences." She said, wiping her eyes.

                                                                       Author's Note

So yeah..... Hank and Hope's relationship is kind of back to square one, if not worse. She's back to calling him Hank instead of Dad, and she removed herself from his life again. Just think of their father-daughter relationship in the first Ant-Man movie, but five times worse.
