While Tony, Thor, and Steve battled with Thanos, Scott, and Hope focused on keeping the other aliens away from the fight. That way, the purple alien would remain outnumbered, and their side would gain the advantage.
It seemed to go well for a while, but then Thanos tossed Tony to the side, forcing him back. Tony joined Scott and Hope and helped to keep the aliens at bay. It was hard to tell what was happening, but the best that Hope could figure out was that Thanos had taken down Thor and Steve had picked up Mjölnir. It wasn't really a surprise to anyone, though. Deep down, they all knew he was worthy.
The fight evened out for a while. But even after being hit with lightning Thanos kept coming. Scott, Hope, and Tony were overwhelmed by the aliens, forcing them to retreat. While Tony went back to the main fight, Scott and Hope hid behind a wall of concrete to regroup and think of a strategy.
"I don't know if we can keep this up much longer," Hope said, breathing heavily after such a long fight. Both she and Scott had grown back to normal size and flipped their helmets back. "We have to keep going. We can't lose!" He said, desperately wanting to see Cassie again. Hope knew this.
"We'll keep fighting. And we will win. But if something does happen, at least we'll be together."
They were about to go back to the fight when they heard something over the radio. "Hey, Cap, do you read me? Cap, it's Sam. On your left!"
About a hundred yards away from where they were hiding, they saw something that looked like orange fireworks. The fireworks formed a circle and slowly got bigger. Inside the circle, they saw people!
But not just any people. Dusted people.
Scott watched as Sam Wilson, The Falcon, flew out of the first portal, followed by the Wakandan army. Hundreds of thousands of other portals opened up, leading more warriors out.
"Hope, it worked! It worked! We brought them back! We did it!" Scott said in disbelief and hugged her tightly.
As the rest of the heroes went into formation, Hope flew over with him just before Steve could yell, "Avengers..... Assemble!" And with that, they ran into battle.
Scott grew into Giant-Man, while Hope shrunk and flew to the aliens, killing them one by one.
They weren't going to lose. Not now.
She tried to stay as close to Scott as possible, not letting him out of her sight.
After a few minutes of non-stop fighting, she flew behind a rock and grew to full size. She needed a second to evaluate the battle. It was what she did best.
Seconds later, Scott grew to full size next to her. "This is crazy!" He said catching his breath. "Hope?"
She looked like she was trying to figure something out, which of course she was. "We aren't enough." She said softly.
"What do you mean?"
"There might be a lot of us, but we aren't strong enough." She explained.
Scott was about to reply but was distracted when he saw who was only fifty feet away. It was Purple Satan himself. Thanos.
Hope sent him a look as if to ask, "What? Do you wanna fight him one-on-one?"
They shrunk before Thanos could see them and talked through their private radio channel. "We have the chance, we should take it," Scott said.
Usually, Hope was the one who would want to fight, and Scott would be the one who'd stay back. But this time was different. This time there was an eight-foot, genocidal alien maniac, standing only a few feet away, with the intention to kill half of all life in the universe, that just so happened to be purple.
