Scott woke up the following morning before Hope did. He took the opportunity and went downstairs to make breakfast.
During the past month, Hope had been waking up at least an hour before him. She told him it was because she liked to get up early, but he knew the real reason.
After he read the diary entry that Hope had written the night before, he started to look through some of the other pages. When he'd first seen the journal a month ago, there was only one entry. But he guessed Hope must've been stressed because there were many more entries than before.
They were all very short, but each had one thing in common. In every entry, Hope wrote that she had a nightmare the night before. She never wrote about what was in the nightmare, just that she had them.
Scott assumed that was why she had been waking up early, but at least she had a good night's sleep the night before.
He started making pancakes, as he knew that Hope loved them, and let his mind wander. He thought about what would happen to them, their relationship. He knew that after Hank came back, everything would be a lot more complicated.
Countless possibilities went through his mind, but he wasn't too distracted, because he didn't burn the pancakes. He couldn't stop thinking about it. Would Hank make them break up? Would Hope choose her father over him?
Suddenly, an awful image flashed through his mind. He was in the middle of a bloody battlefield, holding Hope's lifeless body in his arms.
(If you have ever watched Dracula Untold, just think about the scene where Vlad has a vision of holding his wife's dead body.)
He dropped the plate that he was holding, and it shattered. That seemed to snap him out of it, but he was shaken up.
"What could it mean?" He asked himself. He shook his head and started to clean up the broken plate shards. When he finished, he looked at the time, it was already 9:00 a.m! "How did the hour go by so fast?"
He heard something upstairs and assumed that Hope had just woken up. He quickly set the table and made sure the broken plate was entirely cleaned up.
After a few minutes, Hope came downstairs. "Good morning. What was that noise, it sounded like something broke." She asked.
"I just dropped something." He shrugged. She nodded and sat down at the table. "Oh, pancakes!" She smiled.
"At least I did something right..." Scott said to himself. They both started eating, and Hope had never felt so good before. She was with Scott, and nothing could change that. She hoped this time he would stay with her for good, but she knew it was too much to wish for.
"I'm feeling a little bit better today. Do you think we could go to the compound?" She asked. "Sure, but if you think you need to come back here, we can leave." He said. They finished their breakfast and got ready to go.
Scott didn't think Hope was ready to go to the compound yet, but it wasn't like he could stop her. They got into the car and drove to the glorified building he once broke into.
They arrived in minutes and went inside. Since they had been going regularly, Tony had given them both a keycard. They went inside, and Bruce was the first one they saw. "Hey guys, I wasn't expecting to see you today." He greeted them.
"Where is everyone?" Scott asked. "Oh yeah, they're all in the conference room," "Why aren't you with them?"
"To tell you the truth, it was getting so boring that I said I had to take a phone call, and I kind of never came back..."
Hope stifled a laugh and said, "You know, when Tony finds you, you're dead." "Yeah, I know, so I'll go with you guys and hope he doesn't notice me."
They all walked to the conference room, and Tony greeted them. "Glad you could make it!" He said when they walked in. "And where have you been, Bruce?" He asked, turning to Smart Hulk.
"We called him, told him we were on our way, and that we forgot our keycards, so he let us in," Hope said quickly. "Alright," Tony shrugged. Bruce looked at them and mouthed a Thank you.
They sat down and listened to Tony's lecture on the Infinity Stones. "Okay, so we know we need to get all six stones, Tesseract or space stone, mind stone, time stone, reality stone, power stone, and the soul stone, to snap everyone back. But we still need to know what year we have to go to so we can get them. First, Thor is going to tell us what he knows about the reality stone."
Hope felt Scott nudge her and whisper, "I feel like I'm back in school. Why does Tony sound like a teacher?" She had to fake a cough to cover up her laughing, which caused Scott to do the same thing.
Thor started talking about the reality stone. Then he got so off track that Hope didn't even know what she was listening to anymore. She must have dozed off because the next thing she heard was, "Asgard 2013."
For the rest of the afternoon, they researched the Infinity Stones. Nebula told them that the soul stone was on Vormir 2014, Rocket informed them that the power stone was on Morag 2014, and Natasha discovered that there were three stones in New York 2012, the Tesseract, the mind stone, and the time stone.
Now, there was just one more thing they needed to figure out. Who was going to get which stones?
"Thor and Rocket can handle the reality stone or the reality goop, whatever you want to call it," Tony said. "Nebula, Clint, Rhodey, and Nat can get the power stone. Me, Steve, and Bruce can get the three stones in New York. That leaves the soul stone..."
Author's Note
Haha, I'm so evil! You guys can probably figure out who's left and who's going to Vormir. Sorry about the cliffhanger, but I need you guys to come back for the next chapter.
