The transition to JV from varsity is nowhere near as smooth as I hoped it would be.

At first, all of the Ducks, especially Charlie, thought I was kidding.

"You're kidding me, right?" he laughs cruelly, not believing me for a second.

"I'm serious Charlie. Why would I be here if I wasn't?" I fire back, desperate to make him believe me.

He rolls his eyes, not bothering to look at me longer then he already has to. "Fine."

I sigh and looked at my other teammates. I don't get any responses except for small smiles from Dwayne, Guy, and Luis. I know telling them that I'm coming back to JV to help them win and then going back to varsity probably isn't the best idea, but after what I did to them, they deserve to know the full truth.

They finally start to come around after Hans's funeral, when we play a game of street hockey a few days later. Charlie and Bombay eventually join us, and I finally start to feel like myself again.

The Ducks don't expect everything from me. They take my skills and use them to the team's advantage, instead of exploiting them to make themselves and the team look better like varsity does. I will admit that varsity has been pretty nice to me though, for the most part anyway. They treat me well, but I know that's only because of my brother.

It's safe to say that Rick isn't exactly thrilled with my decision. He thinks I'm a traitor, and he told me if I wasn't the brother of one of his best friends and "big brother figure", I'd be toast.

The only ones that don't mind my decision too much are Scooter and surprisingly, Cole. He understands where I'm coming from. He's actually a pretty good guy, he just likes to put on a tough front to look intimidating.

Unfortunately, there's an unexpected twist.

Rick is so pissed by my decision, that he goes to his dad and the rest of the board to complain about us and to try and take our scholarships away.  It's already been talked about, but Rick goes over the edge and makes his dad actually take action.

I know that if I do get kicked out, my parents can pay for me to stay in. I'm sure they wouldn't be too happy about that though.

We have this fancy case hearing thing where Buckley goes on and on about how if we're going to stay, there needs to be a board member, supported by a second, who votes for our scholarships to stay in place.

Once Orion realizes that no one was going to vote for our scholarships to be reinstated, he takes matters into his own hands.

"You leave us no choice but to bring in our attorney."

At that moment, the doors open to reveal Bombay dressed in a fancy suit and holding a leather briefcase.

After he addressed everyone, he switched into his lawyer voice and went on and on about how getting rid of us and taking away our scholarships is a really stupid idea.

I get bored really easily, so I zone out pretty quickly. I'm only half paying attention, until I realize that the board votes in favor of keeping our scholarships. Everyone starts clapping and cheering... well, except for varsity.
