As a teenage girl, you always imagine what your first homecoming would be like. I think it's safe to say mine was pretty perfect.
Once we get in the gym, me and the girls find Connie and start talking to her. Of course, Connie's date tonight is her boyfriend, Guy. They are the perfect couple. I swear they're going to get married one day.
Julie isn't here, because she went to the senior homecoming with Scooter instead. From what Adam tells me, he really likes her. Every year, the seniors have their homecoming at some fancy country club instead of at the school with everyone else. They're so lucky.
Music starts to play, and people make their way onto the dance floor. I don't want to dance just yet, because we have until eleven-thirty. The night is just beginning, and I want to soak in every moment before I let the night get away from me by dancing.
Sadie, Morgan, and I are invited to the after party, which apparently is a really big thing. If you're invited, you're considered a big shot here. Some guy on Adam's team named Cole is having it, so Adam is obviously invited. He got the confirmation from Cole that he could bring people, so he told me to invite my friends, which I obviously did.
He invited all of the Ducks too, which hopefully won't cause any problems. I'm hoping that since it's homecoming, the Warriors can drop all of their drama with the Ducks for the night.
"El, come on! Let's dance! Don't worry about soaking it all in. We're here to have fun." Sadie yells, so I can hear her over the music.
"Okay!" I respond, and it doesn't even take Sadie two seconds to grab my hand and pull me onto the dance floor.
For the next two hours, me and the girls dance our hearts out to every single song. I haven't had this much fun in my entire life.
At ten-fifteen, they stop playing music to give us a break. They're also serving dessert in the dining hall, so of course I'm getting some. Fresh baked brownies with ice cream and my choice of toppings? Yes please.
"Oh my gosh." I say as I took my first bite. "This is the best thing I've ever had in my life."
"This. is. so. good." Morgan agrees, while Sadie just gives a nod of contentment.
I look over to the boys and start laughing immediately. Charlie is stuffing his face, trying to fit as much in his mouth as he can. Dean is trying to beat Charlie in how much he could fit into his mouth, and Adam is just staring at them with wide eyes as we watch the two boys have an impromptu eating competition.
"Well, that was awesome." Dean sighs happily, rubbing his stomach. "Let's go dance now."
With that, he grabs Morgan's hand and pulls her up. He puts his arm around her shoulder and leads her back to the gym.
"They're so cute." I say to Sadie, who's looking in awe at the pair.
"I know, I'm so happy she found someone who treats her well." she responds, smiling at me.
I look over to Charlie and Adam. "He won't hurt her right?"
I have to know, she is my best friend and she deserves the world. If any guy hurts her, he will have to deal with Sadie and I. That won't end well for him.
