I messed up really bad.

I didn't know it was possible to love her so much until I lost her.

Leading into Friday, I was pretty focused on the party. I already had a huge weight off my shoulders, because Ella said yes to going with me.

On Thursday, it definitely came as a shock when she told me she was going to be late. I understood why, and I respect her for doing what she ended up doing. It pissed me off a bit though, because I would have to be by myself for some of the party.

I know that sounds like an ass thing to say, but I just wanted to spend as much time with her as possible.

I went to bed Thursday feeling very conflicted. How was I going to spend as much time with Ella as possible when she wouldn't be there for a lot of the time?

The first thing I do when I wake up Friday morning is text her.

Ella Walker

hey el, meet me in the back when you get to ricks. see you later (6:42 am)

She responds almost instantly, giving the message a thumbs up. I let out a big sigh of relief and get myself ready. I throw on whatever clean clothes I find in the back of my closet, which just ends up being a black sweatshirt and light gray sweatpants. I put my letterman jacket over my sweatshirt, put on my sneakers, and grab both my bags before running out to my dad's car.

As soon as I walk into school, all I hear are conversations about the party. I feel an arm sling around my shoulder, and I turn to see Cole walking with me. This is definitely a change, I thought he hated me.

"Hey Banksie, you're coming later, right?" he asks, confusing me. Of course I'm going, why does he think I wouldn't be coming?

"Yeah...? Why wouldn't I be?"

"Just wondering. See you later." he answers, walking away before I could ask him why he was so curious on if I was coming or not. I shake it off quickly, because it can't really mean much.

For the rest of the day, I put as much focus as I can into my schoolwork. To me, my dad, and Zach, hockey is the most important thing, excluding family. To my mom though, school comes before anything.

I understand where she comes from, because school is important. But I want to go to the NHL, so hockey is and always has been the most important thing to me. Besides my family, of course.

Once the final bell rings, everyone seems to rush out of school. I wait a little until the crowds clear, that way I won't get trampled. This almost ends up in me being late, and I have to basically throw my gear on and sprint down the hallway that leads to the ice.

Obviously, the main topic of conversation at practice is the party. Rick isn't here, which is a little strange. I get he's hosting a party later, but it starts way after practice ends. As our captain, he could've at least shown up.

When I get home from practice, it's only five-thirty. I take a quick shower and get myself dressed. I decide to keep my outfit simple, the same thing I wore to school today. I'm honestly too lazy to find a different outfit, and besides, my clothes aren't even that dirty.

After I get dressed, I make myself dinner. I don't want to make my mom go through the trouble of making dinner way earlier than she needs to, just so I can eat. The first thing that comes to my head is mac and cheese, which is easy enough.
