Joshi stared at Alka as his heart started to ache. The lady constables came forward and handcuffed her. Seeing that Sai hid her face in Virat's chest while Virat patted her head. Sai tried her best not to cry but a few tears kept escaping her eyes.
As Alka walked out of the witness box, she kept her gaze locked with Joshi's who still stared at her with aching eyes. Tears started shining through their eyes.
Joshi walked forward to her as they stood face to face. "You never listen to what I say." he said blaming her.
"That's what I am guilty for the most." Alka said with trembling voice.
"Then you should have listened to me this time and stayed at home. You know I can't afford to let anything come to you." Joshi was controlling his voice from breaking into sobs.
"This is what I deserve Joshi... and this is what Virat deserves." she said looking at Virat. "He deserves justice for his parents."
Joshi closed his eyes in pain as he realized that she was right. He knew it but was trying to run away from it.
She walked to Virat and stood infront of him as he stared at her with a slight frown. "I couldn't even gather the courage to stand in front of you... but just one feeling made me stand here today. That you deserve what you had strive for. I know you would never have stood against me because you were never like me, but I will make that task easy for you." she said wth a slight smile while Virat looked away trying not to give in. "Take care of Sai." she raised her hand to touch her head in love but couldn't bring herself to touch her. She stopped midway and pulled her hand away.
"You are her mother." Virat said while still looking away, reminding her that she can show her love for Sai. He knew Sai needed that one hug before parting from her.
Alka looked at Virat expecting him to be looking at her with a little less hate but to her disappointment he wasn't even seeing her. She looked at Sai and kept her hand on her head. Sai closed her eyes savoring the feeling as her erratic breaths soothed. She looked up at Virat to see his reaction seeking permission and found him looking at her lovingly. He pursed his lips and nodded his head slightly encouraging her.
Sai turned back to her mother still sobbing. As soon as she saw her, fresh tears started flowing through her eyes. She threw herself on Alka and cried while hugging her and Alka patted her head but she didn't cry. She was feeling strong today doing the right thing after years together. Joshi looked at the two with pain while Virat smiled slightly feeling good that Sai was getting that moment of peace which he missed
The two parted after some time as Sai controlled her sobs. Alka touched her cheek lovingly and then turned back to Joshi.
"Joshi I want to take a promise from you before going, that in the next life you would again be mine. And then I will love you even more than you have loved me. I will show you that it is possible, I promise you that." she said with a confident smile.
