Chapter 4
*Hey! So we still on for hanging out today?*
*It's Wesley by the way :)*
I woke up to two texts from an unknown number, that ended up being from Wesley.
So naturally, before I'd even gotten out of bed, I had a smile on my face.
I sat up, stretching out my arms in front of me before deciding what to reply.
*Sure! What time?*
Simple is good.
I rolled out of bed, taking my phone with my as I walked across the hall to the bathroom.
I could hear my parents downstairs in the kitchen and I could smell the coffee already.
I locked the bathroom door and turned on the shower.
If I was going to hang out with Wesley today, I had to be clean and look good.
As I was blow drying my hair after the shower, Wesley texted me back.
*Okay so I feel super bad but we might have to reschedule... The house is kinda packed today and I'm not sure how happy my dad would be with having more people over...*
I sighed, looking at the message.
It probably wasn't anything personal...
But I was really looking forward to hanging out with him.
I glanced in the mirror at my half dried hair, a sigh escaping my lips.
I'd just finish drying my hair and then text Wesley back to see what we'd do about the fact that we couldn't go to his house...
But a moment later, he texted me again.
*Scratch that. Dad said you can come over. I'll come pick you up but it's gotta be before ten because that's when my brother's leaving with the car...*
*Let me just ask! one sec* I quickly replied.
I turned off the blow drier and practically threw it onto the counter as I ran towards the door.
"Daddy!" I called down the stairs, leaning over the balcony.
"Yes?" He laughed, walking out of the kitchen into the front hall.
"Can I go over to Wesley Ryder's house today please?" I called, putting a smile on my face.
"Going over to a boy's house? You better put more clothes on than just a bathrobe." My dad teased, looking like such a typical dad with his mug of coffee in one hand and the newspaper in the other hand. "Will a parent be home?" My dad asked.
"Absolutely." I nodded, having no clue if anyone would be home actually.
But did I care? Nope. Did my dad really care? Nope.
"Then yes." My dad nodded.
"Thank you!" I grinned before running back to the bathroom.
I texted Wesley back, telling him to pick me up in 30 minutes.
I quickly finished drying my hair, making sure there were no unattended curls in the back.
Leaving the bathroom a mess, I ran back to my room to find something to wear.
I pulled on some light skinny jeans and a black t-shirt, perfect for the unpredictable Michigan weather at this time of year...
I grabbed a sweater too, unsure if I'd need it. But then I tossed it back on my bed, I'd look like my mom dressed me if I was holding a sweater in my hands.
