~ Dumb as a Rock ~

Rain was leaning against the tree she usually visited after a fight with Mikey, because yes, it happened often. It wasn't so much as a fight really, more like a telling off.

A familiar dark haired boy had spotted her by the usual tree as he often did and could immediately tell she looked a little upset. Smirking, he decided to try cheer her up.

He made his way over to the tree, excitement bubbling in him as he got nearer. He tried to keep as silent as possible, walking on the balls of his feet.

"Boo!" He yelled jumping around, only to be left confused when no one was there.

Had he imagined her?

Then he realised he hadn't learnt his lesson from the last time when she dropped from the tree and on to his back causing a choked grunt to leave his lips as they clattered to the ground in fits of laughter.

"Still as dumb as a rock, huh Kei?" She asked cheekily causing him to frown at her as he playfully shoved her shoulder.

Baji Keisuke was one of the few people in this world who she was able to feel normal with, or as the others said 'human'. She dropped the formalities, was often a lot more talkative in his presence and he always brought a smile to her face.

Shinichiro had been another, but now that he was gone and Mikey had distanced himself, Baji was the only one left. Laughing genuinely and having raw fun were just a few things he was able to bring out of her, as well as pure irritation, annoyance, and anger of course. Not many people saw these sides of her, and Baji considered it an honour.

He didn't care what emotion she felt towards him, he was just determined to get her to be her own person and to see the joy of life in her eyes again. He knew she was closed off, didn't usually show much emotion around others, but he knew if she was going to be happy then she needed to start letting others in and being more open.

The only thing he had never seen, was her cry. He had seen her after she had cried, with blood shot eyes but that was only once when Shinichiro had died.

He knew what people said and thought about her, but he was one of the few to truly know her. After all they had known each other since they were kids. They were favourite sparing buddies at the Sano Dojo. She had a different technique to the others which she had been taught in her 'past life', although she mostly changed it due to the fact it was associated with bad memories and was a lot more dangerous than Karate or the other styles she had come to learn.

He was also the only living person who knew about her past and what she had been through, something Mikey didn't even know. She had entrusted Baji, though it had taken a decent amount of time to do so, she knew it was the right decision and that he could be trusted.

"What's the matter sunshine? You look upset?" He asked and she frowned moving off him to sit on the grass as she pulled at the green stems. He referred to her as 'sunshine' often because she always managed to brighten his day.
