It was a peaceful sunny day. I was in my house planting leaves on the soil of my garden. I'm a tall, beautiful and hardworking 26 year old woman named Evelyn. As I was planting the leaves my 4 year old daughter came and asked "Mom, when is dad going home? I wanna play with himmm" I turned towards her, smiled then said "Don't worry Eva, your dad is going home soon." "okayy" Eva said then I continued planting. As Eva was watching my planting she asked "Mom, why do you keep planting those leaves that look like hearts?" I then answered "Because these leaves are special to me." "huh? How is it special to you?" Eva curiously asked. I touched a leaf then said "Because this is the leaf that brought us together." "Us? Who are the us?" Eva asked confused. "Your dad and I" I said.
It all started nine years ago. I was 17 years old that time and all of my classes just finished. I was reading a book called "Our History Repeated Itself" in the park of my school. I chose that park because it was quiet, peaceful and beautiful. I read for about 20 minutes until a leaf fell on my book. The leaf was torn in half and it looked like a half heart. As I was about to touch it , it suddenly flew. The leaf was flying away from me, it looked so beautiful so I decided to follow it. The leaf wasn't flying fast but it wasn't slow either so I kept trying to reach it but failed. When finally the leaf fell to the ground and I knelt down and was about to pick it up when another half torn leaf of the same kind also fell to the ground and it connected with the other leaf.
"huh-" I said then I noticed a pair of shoes in front of me and looked up. Who I saw was Samuel, an 18 year old student of the same school. I immediately stood up and said "O-Oh! I'm sorry for-...." Then I paused. I didn't know what to say because I didn't know what mistake I did so after a few seconds of thinking I continued "I'm sorry for disturbing you." He then spoke up and said "It's fine, you didn't disturb me." Then two leaves that connected together then flew away with the wind leaving Samuel and I watching it. "Uh, I'll be going now. Bye miss" He said and turned around and left. "Bye!" I also said. Then I also turned around and left.
While walking towards my dorm I thought "I wonder who that guy is.. He's wearing the same uniform as I am and he looks older than me so he's probably in a higher grade.. Was he also chasing that leaf?" I then sighed. After a few minutes I reached the entrance of my dorm, walked in and did my usual routine. The next day. I was in the hallway about to enter the classroom when I saw Samuel in front of me walking towards a classroom and then went in. Because of my curiousity I went in front of the classroom and read what it said above the door. "Oh grade 12.. So he's a year older than I am.." I thought. The bell suddenly rang and I immediately realized I was going to be late in class so I hurriedly turned around and walked towards my classroom. I went in and took a seat. My seat was in the back on the Ieft side. On my left was the window that showed the beautiful sky, trees and the park. I was lucky that my teacher hadn't arrived or else I would've gotten a scolding in front of the whole class.
A minute later my teacher arrived and went in front of the class then taught. A few hours later the bell rang again meaning that it was finally lunch time. The teacher then sighed and said "All right. Class, you'll be getting a quiz next week. So make sure to study." There were groans in the class but the teacher didn't say anything and just left. As I took my lunch box from my backpack, I saw him again from the window of the door walking in a calm manner. "It's that guy again from yesterday." I thought. Then I started eating my lunch while facing the window on my left.
