"What?" I say, in disbelief.
"You'll probably face up to six months in prison. Better then two years."
I close my eyes for a good minute, sigh then open them. "And what exactly do I say?
She stops and thinks for a second. "I don't know. Maybe you could say, 'I cheated on my wife and had sexual relations with an underage girl.'"
"That's not funny."
"It wasn't meant as a joke."
"Are you kidding?"
She sighs and goes off the topic. "I wanna know how old she is and how long."
I look at her and stutter my words a bit trying to find something say.
"Uhm... which one do you wanna know first...?"
"Aniya."
"She's... she's almost 17."
Her eyes widen, and her eyebrows raise "Are you joking? Like is this a joke?"
I look to the car floor. "Unfortunately not."
"Aniya, you turn 24 this fucking year."
"I- I know it's bad..."
"No, this is worse. This is worse than bad."
"Grace! I know you don't have to remind me."
"Well, let me remind you. You did this to yourself. And you one hundred percent knew the consequences."
I look up at her. "I don't know what you want me to say. I have nothing to say."
"Well, you can tell me this," she turns to me. "How long?"
I turn forward and just stare outside of the windshield.
I sigh. "Ever since your work thing."
"Are you serious?"
I just turn to her, with my eyebrows frowned.
"Get the hell out of my car."
"Grace, just let me expl-"
"GET THE HELL OUT OF MY CAR." She yelled before tears start to slowly move down her face.
I just stare at her for a minute, because she's never yelled at me before. Ever.
I then just turn to the car door and open it slowly. Right as I shut the door, she quickly drives away.
I just stare at the car as it drives away and try and hold in my tears. I then just walk up the stairs to my apartment.
As soon as I walk in my room, I just go to the kitchen, and pour a glass of wine. Then I just go to my room. I sit up, back against the headboard, I just sit there drinking. I feel as if I needed to take a nap, so I put my drink on my nightstand after taking one last sip, and try to go to sleep. Only a couple minutes in, I get a call.
It's my lawyer.
