Her tears mange to fall by themselves, due to how much was in her eyes.
She gulps hard. "Wha- what? What do you mean?'' She says, not believing anything I'm trying to say.
I catch my breath from holding it in trying not to cry. "Look, I'm sorry but I just don't think... we're right for each other."
"What? Are you... are you kidding? What did I do, did I do something? Mariah... please, are you serious? We were... we were happy. Just the other day... Was that all a lie?'' She gasps for air, from crying silently.
I gave her a worried, and confused look, and wasn't sure why she would even ask that type of a question. "God no, Aniya. None of that I faked. I would never do that to someone I genuinely loved. I love you. I do, its just...''
She cuts me off. "Loved?'' She whimpered. "Please. Just tell me. Tell me what I fucking did? Please, I can't loose you Mariah.''
I look at her then look to the floor, and see a tear fall. But I try and compose myself.
"Aniya, you didn't do anything, okay? It's just I really don't see it working anytime soon.'' Of course, I lied through my teeth. But at the same time, telling the truth.
"I-'' She struggles to speak, looking for a choice of words. Seeing her choking back her tears, caused me to cry more, silently.
"Are you- are you being serious?'' She replied, her words breaking. "You really want to break up with me?"
It tore me apart.
I just sit, and stare at her for a good minute, then nod, while I bite my lip trying not to cry out loud.
She forces a smile, scoffs, then stands up wiping her tears.
"That's why you've been acting fucking so weird? You've been planning on breaking up with me?'' She puts both her hands on her cheeks to wipe her tears. "How long have you been planning this and fucking why. I just don't understand there's nothing wrong with this fucking relationship!''
"I know but-''
"No, tell me. How fucking long? And why."
I hesitate on telling her, but i just spit it out.
"I... I was going to tell you the day you told me about your divorce."
She stared at me with a blank expression.
"Jesus, Mariah? That was almost 2 fucking weeks ago.''
"I know, I'm... I'm so sorry." My eyebrows downturned, tears still coming down.
She laughs. "Are you? Are you actually even genuinely sorry? Because I don't
fucking believe you." She says, still crying, but barley. She now seemed a little more angry, then upset. "Is this about another girl?''I hesitate, searching for words to say. "Are you kidding? No!'' I lie, straight to her face.
"You're lying. You're fucking lying." She scoffs, in disbelief, and disappointment. "It's literally the only thing that would cause you to fucking-'' she stops, and takes a slight deep breath.
"You know what. Please get out. Please, just get up and leave without a damn argument."
"Wait bu-''
"Please, Mariah. Just go. I don't want to make to situation more worse then it already fucking is.''
I just stare at her with tears streaming down my face. I then just get up, and walk out.
That was more worse then I thought.
