"A new beginning." I smile
I'm standing into my new home for the next three years. Getting into college was definitely a challenge. I was smart, but in my city there wasn't any decent college. My parents had firmly refused to let me go anywhere.
Scared that someone would take advantage of me if I did. They were caring parents, but barely at home. Setting a set of rules that prevented me from deepening friendships and resulted me in being a loner.
However, the sun and the moon soulmate mark on my nape promised something else than a life of loneliness.
That was the reason I worked really hard and entered the most difficult college that had a wide range of majors, where I could stand away from an overbearing family and at the same time pursue my dream.
I was dreaming of being a researcher. In chemistry. Peculiar, but the classes of this college about chemistry and biology were one of the best of the entire world. Thus, once I got in, I didn't let my parents chose for me.
I managed to get a part-time job here and an apartment. Working throughout middle school and high school definitely helped a lot. A woof made me smile.
"Kim." I called
The white American Eskimo dog made its famous turn as I grinned at her. I had been an emotion unstable person for a long time.
Kim was the best dog of the best.
My doctor favored me for her adoption and I got her for almost nothing. The dog was middle size and shedded a lot. And when I mean a lot, it's a lot. I crouched down for her to jump in my arms.
"I'm glad I registered you in the campus." I smile as I pet her and she woofs in agreement.
Kim and I have been through everything together. At least since I was 15 and she was one year old. My parents, reluctant and not big lovers of animals, had a hard time getting used to her.
However, the doctor's words were law and my dog and I got along very well.
I started unpacking as Kim began carrying her toys to her doggy cushion. The apartment wasn't big. A living room with an open kitchen, one bedroom with a private bathroom. I looked at my soulmate mark once again as I walked inside the bathroom settling toothbrush and necessities.
"A sun and a moon." I said as I had a hard time looking at it
They were grey, their lack of color due to the fact I hadn't met my soulmates yet. In fact, it was extremely rare to get a soulmate mark.
When mine appeared, I thought I was cursed at first. In fact, soulmates and especially male soulmates were extremely possessive over their female soulmates.
On the news, it was frequent to see that a male soulmate had murdered his soulmate because of jealousy. It was frightening and now pills existed to calm those instincts down. Kim woofed alerting me about something so I brushed my thoughts aside and headed to the living room.
"Ah" I said as I heard the knock this time
I opened the door to see a tall male with a smile. He had broad shoulder and purple hair. I smiled back at him kindly as Kim greeted the man.
"Hi neighbors." He greeted as I remained silent
"Hi. I'm Melody, Hong Melody. Sorry for the awkwardness." I said in a hurry shaking his hand
"I'm Kim Seokjin, you can call me Jin. I live in apartment 202 just beside yours." He shook his head brushing my apologies aside
I noticed the soulmate marks on his wrist and was surprised to see that he had also two of them. Noticing my stare, his smile widened. He looked really handsome, no wonder that he showed his soulmate mark off.
