Broken Hearts (Story 17 - Part 4)

With Dexx:

The Anglerfish demon had been running around the museum looking for Venno and the bounty, the two having disappeared somewhere in the museum after running off and leaving him in the exhibit room with the diamond.

The weight of the diamond in his backpack seemed to get heavier as he instantly began to regret staying back and debating for a few minutes with himself whether he should be taking it, to which he did.

As he ran past the entrance to the Dinosaur Leviathan Creature exhibit, Dexx snuck a quick glance inside and instantly halted in his tracks when he saw what had happened.

Taking a few steps inside to see what had happened, Dexx could tell that something must have happened that caused the large floor to ceiling exhibit that had used to be there to fall apart, some of the metal ropes appearing to have been cut deliberately.

His eyes then laid upon the large skull that was cut in half, causing him to walk over to examine it. Taking a close look, the large skull was sliced in half, not cracked, and there was what looked like toxic venom saliva dripping from where it had been sliced.

Dexx knew that there was only one weapon that was able to do that kind of damage, and it was Venno's scythe.

Shaking his head and refocusing on the task at hand, Dexx quickly turned and ran out of the exhibit room so that he could continue looking for the Velociraptor demoness and the bounty.

Having run around most of the large museum already, the only place left for the Anglerfish demon to search was the lobby, so he quickly made his way down the hall towards it.

There was a large group of denizens, having most likely gathered in the lobby after what had happened in the two exhibit rooms, some of them appearing to be panicking while others were trying to calm them down.

As Dexx made his way through the crowd, seeing no sign of Venno, he snuck a quick glance over at the glass doors and perked up when he spotted the Velociraptor demoness standing outside with her back turned towards the door.

Managing to make his way through the crowd, Dexx suddenly felt a sense of dread fall over him as he pushed the door open and walked out, but he quickly ignored it.

He had no idea about what was about to happen.

With Venno:

The Velociraptor demoness heard the sound of the doors opening behind her, but she simply ignored it since it could have just been some denizens leaving the museum after what had just happened in two of the exhibit rooms.

Venno sighed and hung her head, knowing that her boss wouldn't be happy to hear that she had failed to catch the bounty. The Spider demon would most likely stress over the fact that the museum curator would be contacting him about what had happened, telling him about the damage done to one entire exhibit room and part of another.

"Hey, Venno. Sorry for not being there to help. I got a little lost since the museum is so big, but I rushed over as soon as I heard what was going on" said the voice of Dexx from behind her, causing her to snarl and whirl around in anger.

"Well because of you getting lost, I failed to catch my bounty. He managed to get away when I quickly decided to help those kids in the Dinosaur Leviathan Creature exhibit room. He cut the ropes to the large display, and I couldn't just leave them to get killed in there. They could have been crushed by it if I wasn't there to stop it" said Venno, the Velociraptor demoness confirming one of Dexx's suspicious when he saw the large skull sliced in half.

"I'm sorry. I did try taking a shortcut to try and cut him off, but I must have taken a wrong turn" said Dexx, the Anglerfish shrugging and crossing his arms.
