Chapter 34

Jessica's POV

A week had passed already and Luke had been extra possessive for the week. If I ever wanted to go out or sit on the balcony, he followed and carried me everywhere and treated me like a baby. 

My wounds were healed and I had no problem walking around by the fourth day and I was walking around freely when Luke came, running and carried me to bed. 

I'd never expected Luke to be such a gentle person so it amazed me, every time he would make time to hang around with me and take care of me. 

For the past few days, I told him that I can work in bed if I can't walk around but he went against it. I'm about to die out of boredom by now because Luke won't allow me to do the things I want to do and Rose is busy with Tyler, taking care of her kingdom. 

Someone knocked on the door and I let them in. Maids came inside with piles of food and I didn't have the appetite to eat. For the whole week, I've been eating and sleeping. That's all I did and I didn't even wanna eat anymore. I was about to ask them to take those away when Luke walked inside with his laptop. 

"I know how much you've wanted to do things other than staying in bed. I will be a gentleman and allow you to walk around for a bit from today." He said and I sat up straight on my bed, not believing my ears.

"Really?" "When did I ever lie to you?" He rolled his eyes and passed his laptop for me to take a look at the files inside.

"I've sorted them out and summarized most of the things that happened this week. Read those after you are done with your lunch. You can't go out or do anything without eating them." He stood up and walked out, leaving me excited. 

I don't even remember what I ate because my mind was only to finish them so I could get the work done and stroll around the building. 

 When I was done with lunch, I walked around where people greeted me everywhere I went. Xavier updated me briefly about the next attack and the current situation of the two empires.

Apparently, we were getting ready to attack the headquarter of American Mafia and get rid of them, once and for all. 

The upcoming mission was very important and grand just as it suggested. I frowned upon hearing it but this day would come sooner or later. After all, the alliance I built with Luke is for this mission. It's best for all of us since we can go back to being enemies after everything is over.

Luke had people evade other weaponry ships while I was sick and William have been going crazy according to the reports sent by our spies.

I walked inside my office and the wall between the two of our offices was on, separating both of the offices. I sat at my desk and turned on my computer. 

I was going through the files that were sent to me during my absence when someone placed a cup of hot chocolate next to me.
