Jessica's POV

I got into my jet as soon as we've arrived at the airport. Throughout the flight, I couldn't help my legs from bobbing up and down from nervousness. Xavier told me that it's most likely an attack from American mafia as the security in France was pretty hard to get through and the only ones, they could attack were Damon and the ones staying in Italy.

I got so infuriated to the point that I isolated myself from everyone in the jet and started writing down the painful ways to make WIlliam regret his choice. Damon was the only blood-related relative I've left and I just can't bring it to myself to lose him.

After all these years of living a life full of lies, I can't lose him just yet. He has to live on. When we've safely landed in Italy, the paper infront of me was a total mess from my scribbles. I burned the paper after asking Xavier for a lighter.

As soon as we got off, we took our ride to the hospital where Damon was hospitalized. As soon as I entered a building which was bustling with people, I had to part my ways to get to the reception and ask for the room Damon was staying in.

I was about to take the elevator but it was full of people who were waiting in a queue. I decided to take the stairs and ran up the stairs till I reached the seventh floor. I slammed the door open and went to reception yet again and asked for directions.

I easily noticed all too familiar figures crouching infront of a room, hugging each other as they sobbed in each other's arms. It was Kate and Fiona.

When I approached them, I could hear a commotion from the room infront of us where nurses and doctors were going crazy inside to save the person inside.

The heart monitor was beeping from an abnormal heart rate and sometimes, the all too annoying sound stopped, indicating Damon's heart stopped beating.

I just stood there, unmoving as I stared inside the room in chaos. I then turned to Kate and Fiona who were on their feet and hugged me.

"My-dad-inside-dying" Fiona tried to speak through her tear- strained voice and I wiped her tears.

Kate was a crying mess too and she didn't even say a word. It was so heartbreaking to see them like this as they always laughed around, cracking jokes.

I looked inside the room and the heart monitor was beeping with faint heartbeats which was a huge relief as he'd survived a cardiac arrest.

I stood there with Kate and Fiona for half an hour till the doctors and nurses piled out of the room and went on their separate ways.

The last one to come out told us that he isn't ready to meet any visitors for now so we better give him some break. I nodded as I sat on a nearby bench with Kate and Fiona who were still crying their eyes out.

"Hey guys. I don't think we will be allowed to get inside for now. Why don't you go home, get some shower, prepare some clothes and necessities you will need for a week or two to accompany Damon?" I suggested it but they seemed unconvinced.
