Before one of us could open the door the children were in, Chase opens it wide. The smile on his face is everything. His hands shoot out and rubs my bump."I knew it was you." Chase whispers.
"Hey buddy! We came to talk to everyone." Fredrick rubs his shoulder.
Chase's smile falls into a sad look.
"Nothing is wrong. I promise." I softly tell him, rubbing his cheek the way he has always liked.
I hope he never grows out of that, it calms him quick with my touch. I know he is a teenager, but he is my child.
Chase takes my hand and leads me into the room. There is craft supplies everywhere. This room is a mess, looking up to see Mom covered in glitter. I can't hold back my laugh, which frightens many of the younger ones.
"I am sorry little ones." I softly coo.
I start moving to sit on the couch that is lower to the floor in this room. I let out a series of huffs, but Chase is right there helping me get down. Now, getting up will be the issue with my stomach in the way but that is a problem for later.
The children flank me and all start rubbing on my bump. Chase sits right beside me the entire time and keeps his hand in one place, like he is protecting the little one.
I smile as each child takes turns, they seem to be wonder. As it seems to calm them at the same time.
Fredrick stands off the side of the room, with some of the older kids.
Out of all the children the oldest is sixteen and then next is Chase at fourteen. The rest of the children are between ages eleven to four. They all lacked on schooling making them a little slower than where they should be, but with nuturing each one has had they are becoming more like the age they are.
The younger ones sit on the floor around me completely leaving my Mom, Melissa, and Aunt Layla behind.
"There is something I would like to talk to you guys about." I start softly, making sure I have all their attentions.
"Fredrick and I have been spending quite a bit of time over the last several months pulling information that could be useful to each and every one of you." I tell them, just gauging what their reaction is.
They all looked confused and some tilt their heads, having taken on some traits from being around wolves. It is so sweet and makes me smile.
"As you all know there is some form of magic that runs through your blood. Now, you have only seen and know the dark side. It is not natural for any of you." I stop as some little lips tremble.
"It is all okay, I promise none of you will ever have to go through that again." I coo softly.
The children huddle in closer to the couch.
"Your ancestors used to be Healers. This means the magic that flows through your veins are to be used for good. You can help heal the ones that are injuried or others that don't even know they are sick." I tell them.
Each child is in awe. Chase and Abat hold their breaths having already experinced some of the magic.
"We can use the magic for good?" Abat asks, for a sixteen year old she is smart and on the shy side, but fear her when it comes to the younger children.
"Yes, you can. We have pulled many spells and chants to where you can learn the Healers way of helping people. That is if you wish too." I answer.
I look over the rest of the children.
"I want it to be known none of this is going to be forced. This is only if you want to learn it and work within the area that is part of who you are. We only want you to be comfortable with that side of you and not keep it hidden for fear of what has happened. The magic can be nutured and formed into the way it was always meant to be." I explain further.
"How will we learn?" Abat asks.
"My mother, Claire, and I can help you learn and teach you. We would be able to help keep you in safe limits and to where you're comfortable with." I answer, with a smile.
"I have been wanting to learn medicine. That is why I like following the nurses around." Abat shyly answers.
"That is wonderful, and the nurses have loved when any of you are there with them during the day." I tell them.
Knowing that some of the ones that are eight have been there following the nurses around.
"Is this something you guys want? I know for you that are younger it will be a bit before you learn, but it will be open. Your parents have already agreed to it, if it is something you want to do." I tell them.
The room is silent. I take a glance at Mom, Aunt Layla, and Melissa who are all smiling softly. They are working on getting some of the items cleaned up.
"I would like to learn." Abat states, with a soft voice. She moves over to the couch next to me.
"I am just scared of becoming like the others." She tears up.
I take her hand in mine.
"You will not turn into them. None of you will. We will help you to learn the spells to help heal others and become the Healers you can be." I soft tell her, wiping one of the stray tears away.
Abat gives me a sad smile.
"Will we have to leave though if we learn. This is home." One of the younger children asks.
"You will never have to leave. This is your home and will always be your home. Something we learned too in finding the spells, it is very common for Healers to be mated to wolves. So you may find love here within the pack. Each and everyone of you will know love and happiness the rest of your life, never having to hide or be scared again." I tell them all.
"When can we start?" Chase's asks.
"I know I said I never wanted to practice magic again, but I didn't know it had a good side. I want to help Mama." Chase states, making me proud.
"We can start tomorrow." Mom speaks up.
"I want to train with Chase." Abat pipes up.
Looks like we have our first two children that are of age and ready to learn the Healers way.
