10/05/23: HAHAHA SO GUESS WHO DID IT🥲

After a while of driving and just enjoying each others' company, we were eventually forced to go back to our respective classes. Oh well, at least the classes seemed to fly by as I relived the date in my head.

Oh yeah, that reminds me, the note...

I grabbed the second note that I had left unopened from my bag and opened it up. Inside, there was a tiny marshmallow taped to the note, which read:

a marshmallow for my marshmellow <3

This time, the note wasn't signed, but it wasn't like I needed it to be in order to know who wrote it. After all, only one person ever called me "marshmellow" anyway.

I took the marshmallow off the tape before eating it while no one was looking, as the teacher was sort of strict about people not eating in class and I have some snitchy type of people in my class.

Finally, classes had ended, so I waited for my friends and my hybrids at our usual waiting spot. Mina was already there when I arrived, so I braced myself for questioning regarding my spontaneous lunch date.

"So...?", Mina asked, stretching the word out for a few seconds longer than necessary.

"Hmm...?", I responded, mimicking her teasingly.

"You know what I mean. Where did you go? How did it go? Because if it went horribly I will absolutely be kicking his six feet tall a-"

"Mina!" I interrupted. "It went fine, relax. We just had a mini picnic at this nice spot we both found once."

"Aww, how cute, your first proper date!", she responded.

"Melly went on a date?", Kookie asked as he arrived with a kid his age I wasn't familiar with.

"Just a small lunch date", I told him. "Who's your friend over here?"

Gesturing to his friend, he responded, "This is Hyuka! He has a longer name too, but I couldn't figure out how to say it so I gave him a nickname instead!"

"Hi", said the small child with a wave.

"Hey", I greeted back. "New friend of Kookie's, I'm guessing?"

Hyuka simply nodded, while Kookie asked, "Can he come over tomorrow for a playdate?"

I looked at Mina for an answer since it was her house, to which she nodded. "If his parents are okay with it, then sure!", I told the two.

"Yay!", the two responded in excitement.

Once everyone had arrived (and a brief discussion with Hyuka's parents regarding the playdate idea), we headed over to Mina's house to drop off the kids (minus Hobi) as the four of us entered Mina's car to drive to the airport, with her driving, Yugyeom in shotgun, and Hobi and I in the back.

"So you two, how was the picnic?", Mina asked after five minutes of silence.

"It was nice", I responded.

"Yeah, fun times. We roasted marshmallows and hot dogs at the fire, made s'mores, talked about old memories, it was nice", Yugyeom added. "Kind of wish we had more time though."

"Agreed", I said. "Ooh, we should go to that one arcade again!"

"Yeah! Or there's this new amusement park that opened up that we could try!"

"Amusement park?", Hobi asked, looking away from the window he was staring out of.

With a laugh, I responded, "Yeah, amusement park! I'll take you guys sometime."

He nodded, smiling, before leaning on my shoulder for a quick nap.

"That looks comfy", Yugyeom remarked.

"Must be if he knocked out so quickly", I responded. "So about that amusement park..."

We ended up chatting about more potential date ideas before finally arriving at the airport. I gently woke up Hobi before getting both him and myself out of the car. "So where'd Hansol say he'd be at?"

"I think...Gate 5? Or was it 6?", Mina responded before checking her phone. "Speaking of, he's calling now", she remarks before picking up. "Hello?"

After a minute or two of conversation, she hangs up. "Gate 5", she informs us as she starts walking, the three of us following closely behind.

"Is he already there Mina?", I asked once we reached the gate.

"Not yet, he said he just landed a few minutes ago", she responds.

"Alright, I'll go get smoothies while we wait, you know if Hansol wants any?", Yugyeom asks.

"Hmm...something chocolate-y would probably work for him, something coffee-flavored for me...Melody, Hobi, you guys want anything?"

"Strawberry smoothie works for me...Hobi?", I asked.

"Strawberry banana", he says simply.

"Sounds good", I respond before turning back to the taller boy. "You want help with the smoothies?"

He nodded, outstretching his hand for me to take as he lead me to the smoothie station he had seen earlier, which was still in eyesight of where we were waiting. We ordered our smoothies, which took a while to make because one of the drinks spilled during the creating process, but overall it was worth it as the smoothies were really good.

By the time we started heading back, Mina and Hobi were still waiting, but not for long, as people started to exit the plane, and it was only a matter of time before Hansol emerged from the gate.

Upon seeing where we were waiting, he quickly walked over to us with his luggage before greeting us. 

"Hey guys, how's it been?", he asked.

"Long time no see", I remarked, handing him his smoothie. "Here, we got these while we were waiting for you".

"Thanks", he says as he takes the drink. "Always good to see you three. And...who's this?", he asks, looking at Hobi with curiosity.

"I'm Hobi!", he says enthusiastically.

"I see. Well it's nice to meet you Hobi", Hansol responds. "I'm Hansol, but when I moved to the States I also started going by Vernon".

"Oh nice, you have an English name?", Mina asked.

"I always did, I just never knew until I moved."

"Huh. I'll be honest, that's going to take time to get used to. Did you have a preference between the two?"

"I mean, not really, but I've gotten used to Vernon. You can still call me Hansol if you want to though."

"It's a nice name, so if that's what you're used to and prefer, then that's totally cool!"

"You're name reminds me of Harry's uncle in Harry Potter, but you yourself aren't much like him", Hobi states randomly. It took everything in me to not laugh or say anything about it.

"What makes you say that, little one?"

"There's a character in Harry Potter called Uncle Vernon and he's mean! But you're not mean, you're really nice", Hobi explains.

"Ah, that's good to hear", Vernon says with a laugh as he starts heading towards the exit. "Well, come on now, we can't just spend the night here."

"I mean, it's not a school night, what's stopping us?", Yugyeom joked.

"Airport security, unfortunately", I replied teasingly. "Now let's get a move on, the kids will be waiting"

"Kids?"

"We'll fill you in on the way back."

With that, we left the airport and got back into Mina's car for the road home.
