update: why do i keep forgetting periods-
The next few days passed by rather quickly, and aside from a small situation I had with a kid who was bullying the hybrids, all went well for their first week of school.
Friday creeped up pretty quickly as well and before I knew it, I was sitting in an office with Namjoon in a meeting about his education level.
time for snow to try to sound smart kids-
"So it appears that Namjoon has an excellent understanding of the concepts that a child his age should know. In fact, he seems to have an excellent understanding of other concepts above his age level", the principal said.
"So, with your approval", the principal continued, "we were hoping to allow him to participate in a test to see how much he knows, and therefore, how far he can go grade-wise".
With little hesitation, I told the principal, "I think it's a great idea but only if Namjoon is okay with it", turning to him as I said this.
"I'm fine with it", he told me.
"Very well then. He will take the test next week and we'll email you the results within two weeks from now", the principal concluded.
On my way out of the office, I looked at the bright child, and ask him, "Are you nervous?"
"Not really, more excited", he responded. "Maybe now I can be in your class!"
I was a little shocked by what he said but did my best to hide it. "There's always the possibility, but don't be too upset if you aren't. Who knows? Maybe you'll be higher than me", I told him.
"Nah, I don't think I'll be higher than you, you're smart too", he said. Sweet kid.
Mina had already driven the rest of my hybrids home so that they didn't have to wait for us to wrap up the meeting before going home. Things went rather smoothly for the rest of the night, so I decided to let them do their own things while I went to my room for some much-needed alone time. I was about to start another creative craft when my phone rang. I answered it, confused.
"Mina, what's up? Don't you usually go to bed by this hour?", I asked. It was only around nine but I'm pretty sure she had something tomorrow.
"I need to tell you something...", she said. Then she asked, "I know this sounds stupid, but...is there a possibility that my cousins could still be out there?"
I had to think about it at first. On one hand, I didn't want to break it down to Mina all at once, but I know she deserves to know the truth. In the end, I decided to tell her.
"Hmm...as unlikely as it seems, yes, there's always the possibility", I told her.
"I see...because this past week I've been seeing signs that they...might not be dead", she said. "I haven't talked it over with my sisters yet, but I plan to soon."
Unsure but also certain of where this was going, I asked, "Like what?"
"Well...it all started when you came back on Tuesday...when we were walking to class after lunch."
"When you were dazed at something?", I intervened.
"Yeah", she said. "It wasn't nothing. I saw...an arctic wolf hybrid. But it wasn't just any, it looked...familiar...and that's when I started questioning everything. Seeing your new wolf and rabbit hybrids while I was driving them home earlier made me even more suspicious".
"Then other things followed. I keep seeing this barn owl in the tree by my house. Owls don't usually nest up there, at least not where I live", she stated. Just like Yeji, I thought.
"Hold that thought", she said. "Someone's at the door".
I waited on the other line for about seven minutes before someone had arrived, but it wasn't Mina. "Hey, I'm assuming this is Melody that Mina was talking to?", a new voice asked.
"Yep! And this is...?"
"Sana, at your service!"
"Right".
"Anyways, Mina told me to tell you to come over, something about how the barn owl she was telling you about just flew into our house and she thinks it might be one of our cousins. I think it is too, but I want to be sure".
"Sure, I'll be there in five", I told her. I then hung up, getting ready to go to their place. Before I left, I decided to take the hybrids. Knocking on the door of the older ones first, I asked, "I'm going over to Mina's, you guys wanna come?"
They all agreed, so I left them to get ready while I checked on the younger ones, who also went along, as did Judy and Joanne.
As I drove over there, I started to put two and two together. The hospital must've lied about Chaeryeong being dead. The others most likely figured that out for themselves, so they ran away in search of her, but must've gotten separated.
But why would the hospital lie about that?
I set my thoughts aside once I got there. I knocked on her door. "Mina?"
The door opened, and there she stood, stunned. "I see you brought your hybrids", she said.
"Yep", I told her. "Surprise?"
She just looked at me, confused. "What sur- oh sh...", she trailed off, once she understood what I meant.
"I knew they looked familiar! Guys look! Melody's new hybrids are Ryujin and Chaeryeong! Come in Melody, this is exciting! First we think Yeji's returned, now this!"
She then went to go hug the two, but they stepped back a bit.
"Huh? Ryujin and Chaeryeong? Who are they?"
sorry guys i'm evil😈
