It was just another normal day, and thanks to spring break, I didn't have school, so I slept in for a bit before getting up for the day. I got ready before leaving the house and walking around outside for a bit.
During my walk, with some consideration and thought, I decided to brighten up my dull life by adopting a companion, so I headed over to the pet store. Two of my friends, Jackson and BamBam, worked over there part-time, and I haven't seen either of them in a bit, so I figured now would be a nice time to visit them anyway.
When I got to the shop, however, it was quite peaceful, which was odd; usually there were at least a few noisy animals, usually because they were riled up by either of the two crackheads. However, after walking into the back of the store, I found out why the animals weren't bothered too much that day.
When I went out back, I found what could be described as either the funniest or stupidest thing I've seen from either one of them.
Both of them were backing away nervously from what I'm pretty sure was a simple cuddly red panda that just wanted to play, when one of them stepped on the tail of a sleeping panther nearby, which did NOT go over well with the now-grumpy panther. Jackson and BamBam were well-known for selling more exotic pets along with the average dog and cat here and there, so panthers and red pandas didn't seem too far-fetched for them.
"Hey guys, what-", was all I got out before they interrupted me as they ran from the panther, now enraged from being awoken
"Hey Melody! HELP US!"
"A 'please' would've been nice guys", I tell them teasingly.
"NOT THE TIME! JUST HELP US! Please?..."
Not wanting them to suffer any longer, but also slightly scared of the panther, I decided to try using one of the scattered squeaky toys on the floor, squeezing it a few times before dropping it in the hopes of diverting the panther's attention.
It did. Within seconds the panther turned and head straight towards me.
I braced myself for impact, but it never came.
When I looked, I found that the panther had stopped right in front of me, grabbed the toy, and curled up in the corner to go back to sleep.

"Wow...", Jackson remarked. "I've never seen Yoongi that nice...
"Yoongi?"
"The cat. Usually he rips people's throats out if they disturb him."
Eyes widened, I told him, "Please tell me that's not true."
"Not exactly...he wouldn't necessarily rip out your throat, but he will scratch you. Guess his energy wore out", BamBam replied. Then he smiled. "Anyways, long time, no see! What brings you here to finally visit us?"
"I was actually looking for a nice pet to keep me company", I replied. "I was getting lonely since my parents are always on business trips so I decided to adopt one."
